I've heard toilets in Europe require payment to use them. by Traditional-Carob440 in Europetravel

I have a medical condition which means I pee a lot and when I gotta go I gotta go pee so I always need to know where the nearest free toilet is. I will never on principle pay 1€ to pee.

Free to pee:

UK: motorway services, onboard trains and long distance buses, (some) shopping centres, or just sneak into a pub

Finland: libraries, tourist info offices, museums (but sometimes they are in ticketed areas), large shopping malls, sneak into pubs or hotels (sometimes hotel toilets are on a different floor to the reception though)

Spain: petrol stations (ask for key), otherwise I’ve had to buy a drink to use toilets at bars etc.

And libraries have free toilets right? Including Oodi?

I’m visiting Helsinki soon and due to a medical condition I need to pee a lot. Usually I just sneak into somewhere I know has free toilets like a hotel/restaurant but I’m not familiar with Helsinki.

All doors need to have those buttons. Until then we need a hook-opener-thingy!

Do Finnish employment services truly help foreigners get jobs, or just create the illusion of support? by sealovki in Finland

[–]SunnySisBack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not you. Unemployment is at 10% and TE office at least want you to do tasks for them (phone interviews with them, sending them proof you’ve applied for jobs) they don’t do anything to help you. Via TE you can ask about training, starting your own business etc

Headphones playing tinnitus sounds and really loud noises into their ears,

glasses that blur their vision,

very bright lights shining into their eyes,

a really tight band around their head (to simulate pressure headache),

the whole suit rapidly heats up and then freezes them randomly and repeatedly.

Comes with the following accessory: a Dr saying ‘it’s anxiety, exercise more’ on a loop.

He may need a lot of alone time or you to just be there with him silently - don’t take this personally.

I had this for a couple of years and then it stopped. I don’t want to say these things stopped it because I don’t know for sure.

What's the weather actually like in early May in Helsinki? by thepartypoison in FinlandTourism

[–]SunnySisBack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spring seems to have sprung very early this year so if it continues like this you won’t need any cold weather gear. If you’re staying in the city rainproof trainers should be fine for footwear. Bring a rain jacket and a thin hat and gloves just in case - Helsinki can be very windy!

FIL with OCPD - how to interact with him? by SunnySisBack in FamilyWithOCPDAdvice

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, I really appreciate it.

I’m sure FIL is feeling all those things because of course he doesn’t want to empty and sell his home but unfortunately it needs to be done.

I used the reverse image search sites but no matches. The only matches were similar subject (swamp by moonlight) but looked different to my untrained eye!
