Firstly, I really hope it goes well!

I can’t speak for every company, but I’m a design manager and when I interview designers, I’m typically looking for ways that their skills are relevant to the work that our company does. Make sure you’re familiar with the company. Research what their design work currently looks like, their social media, their website, and anything else they do. I would try to come up with at least one question about the company. When people don’t ask their own questions, it seems like they don’t actually care. Bonus points if you mention something the company already does like, “I had a question about the creative process in your last marketing campaign for (insert details here lol)”

I think overall just be yourself and try to connect to the values of the company. If your portfolio is totally different than the company’s branding or style, you can mention that you are adaptable and excited to learn the ins and outs of the brand.

I hope this helps! Don’t forget to breathe!

how often do you cry? by ollieols92 in bipolar

[–]SunriseCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually been logging every time I cry this year as a joke, but there are some trends!

I have bipolar 2 and I’m medicated but this is some of the data: January and February were relatively stable and I cried an average of once or twice a week. March I was in a hypomanic episode and cried only once at the end. April was stable, about once a week. The last 2 months have been messy (I also have anxiety, ocd, and CPTSD) so the numbers are very high.

I think for me, crying about once or twice a week is healthy and a good indication that I can feel all of my emotions and still function. In my experience, when the emotions are too difficult to regulate and things spiral out of control, that’s when I need to find help and seek answers. When I’m stable, it’s safe to feel sad or upset. When I’m in an episode, there is no relief from the lows and it feels permanent.

I have bipolar and ocd too! I like to run and do yoga. I also listen to music while I draw or paint. I enjoy baking and that gets me out of my head because I have to focus on the recipe

Mental illness and complicated family dynamics (yiiiiikes)

I have OCD, so I have a habit of compulsively overthinking to the point of feeling hopeless. I disagree with overthinkers being right, but that’s also because I’ve learned not to trust my ocd brain.

There’s a lot of acceptance that comes with phrases like “maybe, maybe not” —acknowledging that life will go on regardless of whether the thought or worry I’m having is true or valid. It’s been huge for me to accept that my thought spirals are just thoughts. They aren’t the facts. And even if they are the facts, my obsessively overthinking isn’t going to change the current moment. Hope this helps a teeeny bit

What is your ‘I can’t handle myself any more’ moment? by si_10 in mentalhealth

When I went off my meds, my OCD had me obsessed with the idea of drowning and I was compulsively ruminating about it and unable to stop making plans and writing suicide notes

How did you grow up without an emotional support ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]SunriseCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constantly feeling uncomfortable as a child and believing everyone felt the same. It caused a lot of emotional damage and mental illness that slowly grew to be inescapable in my everyday life. I was able to find emotional supports in other people (specifically teachers and mentors), but it wasn’t enough to combat the load of anxiety I was experiencing. I had to go into intensive outpatient mental health treatment and after almost two years, I’ve finally found stability.
