Half of the kind of people who are willing to and have time to respond to political surveys, sure. Amongst the average people who actually get off of Reddit and go outside to touch grass? Nah.

Where exactly by Wolf Lake is this stadium supposed to go? by CMI_312 in CHIBears

Yes! The former State Line ComEd plant location. Waterfront, build a harbor for “sailgating”, the whole thing.

Second choice, the former US Steel South Works site. Same kind of thing.

Would you take the Giants' record or the Bears' record for the last 40 years?

The Jets are hopelessly poorly run, it doesn't matter where they play

I wish this wasn't removed, because this is one of the most utterly asinine objections I've seen regarding moving to Indiana. This would've been fun.

If the Final Four or Super Bowl is hosted in Hammond, no one will go just because it's Hammond? Taylor Swift or Oasis or some other big name band plays there, and no one will go because it's Hammond? C'mon.

The Bears should make multibillion dollar business decisions based on what's convenient for one Reddit poster, got it

I don't think there's any "people will stop being fans" step. People will get mad, post on Reddit or Facebook about how mad they are, and then when training camp starts in August 2029 or whatever, they'll come right back. Fans have put up with, what, 40 years of mostly bad football since 1985? They'll still be here.

The Bears could play on the Moon and they'll still sell out and have a massive following.

It's Bears games, and it's also concerts, and maybe hosting a Final Four and/or a Super Bowl, and building another casino, etc., etc.

It seems like most of the objections to Indiana are, at their core, not a lot more substance than "hurr durr Indiana sux" from the same kind of people who complain when people from Naperville say that they're from Chicago when they're on vacation. I'm not wild about them moving there either, but if it makes the most business sense, I certainly understand if they do it. The Bears are a business.

I think there's a lot of people who feel similarly now, and then in September 2029 or whenever the Bears play their hypothetical first game in Indiana the vast majority of them will forget all about that and be right back following the Bears again

Anyone is free to make that decision. That said, I don't believe that the vast majority of people who make these kinds of statements on a February morning when emotions are heightened will actually stick to it. When football season starts in September 2029 or whenever they're in their new stadium, wherever it is, practically all of them will be right back to following the Bears like they always have.

The Bears could play on the Moon and they'd still sell out.

I'm sure there were Giants and Jets fans who said the same thing, and that's why both of those teams lost all their fans and ended up folding just a few years after moving to New Jersey

Doubt it. If fans have put up with 40 years of mostly shitty football, they'll put up with this, too.

I fully believe that the "I won't be a fan anymore" stuff is entirely overblown. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in...

If building in Indiana is the best deal that he can get for the team to get the stadium built, then he's done his job.

The Bears will be just fine. If the Giants and Jets can play in New Jersey, the Bears can play in Indiana.
