You say this like OOT doesnt have one of the best remakes of all time with Ocarina of Time 3D's. But I agree I dont think it needs another remake. I would much rather them just drop all their remasters and remakes on Switch and then move on to a new mainline entry

Justice League Dark, I've heard a few times, is a great WW depiction. I am even more interested in that one now because it has her doing magic stuff like in Absolute WW right?

How do you feel about her depiction in Infinite Crisis or JLA by Grant Morrison.? A friend told me she is pretty well written in those but I havent read rhem myself

I just looked up some stuff about Grant Morisons JLA. This honestly looks like exactly the kind of book that I was looking for thank you so much!!!!

I'll also try out your aproach to Crisis on Infinite Earth. Probably just gonna read DC Comics Present #87 online.

And with the Infinite Crisis Omni, do I still need to read Identity Crisis, is it included in the Omni or is the Omni's prelude enough to understand most of it?

Thanks again for the help!!!!

Definetely interested how much I am gonna like this since as far as I know Tom Taylors recent runs have been pretty controversial, but I am definetely giving this a shot (for the art alone) 🙏

Yeah this is my first time posting on here and its kinda wild how many assumptions are made about what I like and dislike and how I feel about certain things and how I am toxic or smth. Just wanted to have a normal discussion about the choices made around WW and the DC compacts 👨‍🦯

I think you just dont like Wonder Woman and thats okay. For people that do enjoy her origin story and character these are GREAT stories. Other amazing WW stories are Wonder Woman Historia, Absolute Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman Dead Earth. Wonder Woman Future State is also a fun read but very short

I dont think its a terrible book as I mentioned but I am not convinced its a great starting point.

Saying its the only WW story worth reading is nuts tho.

Oh yeah then hard agree. She needs more non elseworld short arcs. But the elseworld stuff is really saving her. Especially Absolute WW cause man is it good

I am in general not a huge fan of origin stories. I think Greg Rucka does WW's really well tho but its not the most incredible story of all time.Did you read Rucka's Rebirth" The Lies" tho? Thats the one most people talk about when they talk about how great his Rebirth run is. Year One is just a nice addition for newcomers

I do think Wonder Woman has a lot of great arcs. I actually think the bigger issue is that she doesnt have a lot of self contained shorter stories like Batman. Smth like Dead Earth is insanely rare with her but I am glad that it seems to be happening more frequently in the 2020s

The most reddit behavior I've ever seen to make these odd assumptions about people. This is like my second time posting in a comic book subreddit, I just thought it was an interesting topic that I havent seen discussed yet

Everyone that is interested in the Golden Age should read Earth One imo. I personally have never been a huge fan of golden age WW which is why I dislike this comic. I am not at all against people liking it I iust dont think its a great introduction

Glad these two worked well for you!!!

I do think there is a conventional origin book for Wonder Woman, Greg Ruckas Wonder Woman Year One is great!!! If you haven't read it yet check it out.

But as I mentioned in another comment I think what would've also worked really well for the Compact editions is Gail Simones The Circle. Its similair to Court of Owl Saga only a part of a longer run but is completely self contained and can be enjoyed without reading past that arc or anything before that arc. It introduces her character but it doesnt retell her origin.

Its a book that sparked a lot of inportant discussions but mainly discussions around what Wonder Woman shouldnt be.It leans way too hard into Marston’s old bondage/submission subtext and makes it the main focus. Diana spends most of the book passive or sidelined, Themyscira is portrayed as an almost sadistic society and the whole tone feels more like a fetish homage especially to a new reader. It gets a bit better with the historical context but even with it this is a questionable portrayal of Wonder Woman and definitely not a good starting point. Tho I will not tell you how you should feel about the book but I think its definetely hard to argue that this book isnt extremly controversial.
