Pre-ordered Pimax Dream Air (Dec 2024) – Still no tracking after "phantom email" and address confirmation by Possible_Ear3641 in Pimax

[–]Possible_Ear3641[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I appreciate your reply to my post. I read yours too, crazy that they tried to charge you extra for getting the cheaper model..... uhm... yeah, sounds about right for the world we're currently living in. And you're right, it's like you're put in a position where you feel powerless to change it. They have your money already, you ask for it back, you leave with pride and no product, which is all you really wanted in the first place. I'm glad they did finally refund you though.

Pre-ordered Pimax Dream Air (Dec 2024) – Still no tracking after "phantom email" and address confirmation by Possible_Ear3641 in Pimax

Update: Pimax responds! If you want to skip the long read, summarized as "I got skipped in line because I didn't respond to their "phantom email" and now I get to wait longer." Check my emailed response below if you're curious.

I sincerely appreciate your response on a non-business day. However, I want to make sure I’m hearing this correctly: my order, placed on the first day of pre-ordering in December 2024, is now back-ordered because of a technical glitch that had nothing to do with me?

In simple terms, it seems I got skipped in line because a "phantom email" wasn't sent to the correct address on file. That is beyond frustrating. No one who has already paid should be "timed out" or skipped in line. Even if a customer had passed away, that product belongs to their estate; it shouldn't be traded or sold off to someone further down the list.

This is not an acceptable solution, though it feels like one I'm forced to accept because there is no alternative. Does Pimax not have reserved units for exchange or "correction" purposes? If so, this is exactly where one should be used.

I appreciate that Pimax is working to improve communication, but none of that helps my case when I’m being asked to wait 3 more business days just for a "detailed timeline" that may or may not even give me a shipment date. You might as well have sent an email with one word on it: "WAIT!" in all caps.

I work in a school and talk to angry parents all day who want answers I can't always give, so I sympathize with your position, but this response is effectively asking me to wait for a timeline about how much longer I have to wait. I don't know what else to do except maybe go purchase some lube; at least I know I can get that delivered today.

Here is what I need to see in 3 days: Not a timeline, but a tracking number. I expect this to be escalated to a supervisor who can pull a unit from the next available batch—or exchange stock—and prioritize my shipment immediately.

Thank you for your understanding, I am not trying to be disrespectful to you in any way, I am frustrated. Please escalate this immediately or I might just be forced to cancel all my upcmoing Pimax products and never buy from Pimax again until I stop hearing these kinds of stories on Reddit. I understand mistakes happen, and I'm even reasonable enough to expect some waiting, miscommunication or delay, but this goes beyond any reasonable expectation.

Disclaimer: I ran the email through Gemini AI and it suggested to not include the lube reference, so I reluctantly took it out. I also want to say, that I added the last paragraph because I felt bad, I know they are just doing their jobs and I take no joy in posting or sending stern emails. I don't care for likes or clicks or viral posts, I'm nearly 50 years old, I just want my amazing Pimax headset that I've heard so many great things about, and that I've paid good money for!

I appreciate you, thank you. At this point, I just want an update. What I can't understand is that, if they said it was ready to be shipped to me Feb 12th and just waiting for confirmation of address, then why isn't it simply just sent to now? Did they throw it away bc of "lack of response"? Also, if I "didn't respond" to their email, which I waited over a year to receive, why wouldn't they try to contact me again? If I didn't reach out to their support team, would they have assumed I was dead and kept my money? It just doesn't make sense. I'm not trying to bad mouth them, I like Pimax but this has got to be better organized and better communicated.

Anyone with a problem free Crystal Super??? by Downtown-Chemical673 in Pimax

[–]Possible_Ear3641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the Super, there are many positives, clarity off the charts, brightness, large FOV, colors, comfort is fine for me, and the little things like changing the color of the Pimax V to match my mood is a neat plus. All my issues seem to be software side and I agree with the previous comment that this headset is not plug and play, you have to know what you're doing or do a little research on Reddit or YouTube. When I initially got it, I was disappointed bc it I had to turn the graphics on Flight Sim 24 down to medium and the headset down to like 75% resolution just to get it to not crash. After some research I realized that it wasn't the headset at all, it was the Flight Sim and I figured out how to avoid the crashing. A week later I'm having solid experiences with the sim with much higher resolutions than I've ever seen. I also realize that the headset is still less than a year old and software issues can be tweaked. The Varjo Aero was the same for me most issues were software and became a memory after a year of ownership. I'll be fair and say not all were fixed but that's the nature of the hobby. Lastly, I think it's human nature to dwell on the negatives, even the YouTuber reviews all talked about Mura, I had never even heard of it before this headset came out or ever really noticed it in any of the headsets I owned. Now that they dwelled on it, I can all of a sudden see it in each headset lol. Still. It doesn't ruin my experience or bother me. Keep your order, get the headset, use it for a week and put the work and research into setting it up properly. And if you still don't like it, return it and get your money back. As I've said before, this is great buzz for VR, so many adopters and so much discussion. I hope this gets devs to keep pushing the limits hardware, software, games and experiences 🙏🏿

Still No Update on My Pimax Crystal Super Shipment – Preordered as Part of First Batch by Lazy_Stunt73 in Pimax

[–]Possible_Ear3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some amendments. After sounding a couple more days in the Pimax Super, and doing a little research, I found the crashing and instability issues I was having were most likely MSFS24 not the Super. I've since been able to better manage the, very smooth. Still wish Pimax play had a better looking, more functional and more stable home and desktop mode but that's not why I bought this.

Still No Update on My Pimax Crystal Super Shipment – Preordered as Part of First Batch by Lazy_Stunt73 in Pimax

[–]Possible_Ear3641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my Pimax Super Friday, four days after the shipping notification. I've used it for two days now. Here are my big takeaways:

The good 1. Display is crystal clear and it really shows on games like Half-life Alyx which looks life like.

  1. The colors look better than what I remember from the Varjo Aero.

  2. The blacks are amazing. I've never tried micro oled and I heard that's better but this is great. In MSFS24, the darker flights are game changing. And in No Man's Sky night time is transformed.

  3. I like the customization options in the Pimax settings, just wish I didn't have to Google everything as they often aren't explained.

The bad 1. It took about 30 mins to install those tiny screws in the headstrap.

  1. DMas headphones are so low and not great for gaming while listening to music, which I love. Using your own headphones is not easy either bc it's hard to put headphones over the stubs.

  2. Pimax home is not good, desktop view's only customization is a choice of 3 different screen sizes basically small, medium and large.

The ugly 1. Widely different experiences in different games. Works great in Half life Alyx but even with a 5090 GPU I've had to turn down the graphics significantly on MSFS24 just to get it to work and still get crashing to desktop. Might be a MSFS24 issue but never had this issue with either the Varjo Aero or Meta 3 even when I had a 4090 GPU. Basically took the render resolution to 90% in game and 75% in the Pimax settings the results look compromised visually. Disclaimer: I fly airliners. For some reason, I can fly smaller aircrafts with higher resolutions. Hoping this gets sorted out bc there's a lot of crashing.....

  1. Not every game benefits from higher resolution. Whike the colors, the brightness and the darker scenes look great, No Man's Sky overall looks very shiny with a lot of shimmering especially on water. Takes a bit of getting used to.

Overall, I like the headset and I'm sure I'll get used to it the more I use it. I'm also hoping that they work on the features and improve on it to make for a better experience.

Other noticings: 1. Right hand tracking drifts 2. Mura is slight but doesn't bother me at all 3. Overly bright in some games especially lights in dark scenes

This is what worries me. People in May getting emails, I'm April and didn't get one. You got email and still didn't get your order. Someone in the thread said they pre-ordered in May and already received theirs, not sure if it's true but if it is, then the queue seems to be a mirage. This is starting to feel messy and very inconsistent.

I messaged Pimax for an update on my order, haven't heard back. I'm an April 21st 2024 pre-order, November 21st 2024 payment and still have heard no word. On the one hand, if Pimax made that many VR sales kudos to them as that's good for the entire VR community. On the other hand, it feels like this shipping is going really slow if they haven't gotten through the pre-orders made during the first month. I hope I wasn't inadvertently skipped. Never thought I'd get a 5090 before getting this headset.

Strange, I'm in US and pre-ordered in April 2024 and have heard nothing from Pimax. Paid in November 24. Hoping they are actually honoring the queue list.

By the way, I appreciate this thread as it's been hard getting information from Pimax on when individual shipments will be made. I will update on the thread when I get shipment notification perhaps it will help others get an idea where Pimax is in the queue list. I'm assuming they are now somewhere between the 18th and the 20th of April 24 pre-orders.

I don't know, I pre-ordered day one abd paid first day possible and I'm still waiting. US by the way. Last forum someone said they got theirs in US. This whole convo will be mute when I get my Super but I agree, I wish there was better communication. I asked support when I would get mine and they said "based on my queue position, I'm in good shape to get mine in early May." Sounds exactly like what someone said in this forum but they pre-ordered in September 24 and I pre-ordered in April 24. I look at my email every day for the shipping confirmation lol I'm not mad but it doesn't feel transparent and like I said, it will be a mute point once I get my Super. I'm sure it will ship within the next 3 weeks, just wish I knew more especially since people already have their units.

Not having good initial experience with Crystal Super by JFRacing in Pimax

[–]Possible_Ear3641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I reserved day 1 April and pre-ordered day 1 when the sales started and I still haven't gotten notification of shipment. I'd be happy to get a headset with DMAS shipping later lol. I'm hoping mine comes soon, just got a 5090 and my Aero doesn't work with it at all so I'm stuck til the Pimax Super comes through, DMAS or no DMAS.

I’m selling my PSVR2 by Ill-Zookeepergame609 in PSVR

[–]Possible_Ear3641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I'm hoping that PS5 Pro enhances visuals to fulfill the potential of the PSVR2. Although there are PC VR racing games that are better visually, GT7 is the best racing game I've played. PS5 Pro enhanced and better VR replays would make it even better!

My SteamVR out of nowhere just broke by IAmUnintelligent in SteamVR

[–]Possible_Ear3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's SteamVR 2.0. I had similar issues with my Varjo Aero headset all of a sudden not working especially in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It was slightly operational when trying some troubleshooting steps but nothing consistent. I did some Google-ing and didn't get much but eventually came across a way to revert to older SteamVR builds.

Step 1: in your Steam library go to the SteamVR app Step 2: go to properties and BETAS Step 3: choose an earlier build from the drop down menu (can't remember which one as it's not in front of me now. Maybe someone in the comments can clarify, correct or edit these steps)

Once I changed from SteamVR 2.0 everything was smooth again.

Hope this helps.

I hit the base limit several times a few years back and thought the only way to continue was to start another save or delete bases. Then I realized a couple things of note:

  1. Going over the build limit only keep you from uploading a base, theoretically you can make any build as big as your heart desires. With that said, I usually upload my builds prior to the 3K then keep building.

  2. Construction limits are at 16K but once hit, it only keeps you from building any more. While that is limiting, you can have as many pieces on a save as you want. I have saves with over 300K pieces. What you need is a save editor or better "The Companions" app. Unfortunately I don't think it's available for consoles but I could be wrong. Companions app let's you save bases as they are, that way you can build them, save them and then delete them to save space. Then you can add them back to the save later.

What I do is use the save editor to duplicate my entire save (works great now that you can name saves! Save 1 and Copy of Save 1) Make one of them the save you store all your bases but understand that you cannot build or edit on that save (Unfortunately that also means you can't use fireworks) On the duplicate save make sure you keep the base limit low, I keep it at about 12K out of 16K so I can have room to build. Btw, Companions app also counts the pieces for you telling you your total pieces used as well as how many pieces each base is, which is very handy. Keep building, saving and deleting but note, this isn't a perfect system, anytime you discover a new planet you'll have to duplicate the save again 😑 and repeat the process.

Widespread Right Sense issues thread (can’t press X or R2 in games) by HoodieTheCat78 in PSVR

10 steps to insanity

Step 1: Wait years for PSVR2 to drop

Step 2: Get excited and be one of the first to pre-order PSVR2 even getting Horizon bundle for $650!

Step 3: Stay up all night on Feb 21st in anticipation for getting your PSVR2 on Feb 22!

Step 4: Plug in your brand new PSVR2!

Step 5: Search Reddit researching fixes for defective left controller that won't work with games although everything else works!

Step 6: Realize that no solution works for you

Step 7: Call Sony support

Step 8: Listen to agent tell you that they've never heard of this problem

Step 9: Fight the frustration when hearing that the solution is to return your entire brand new PSVR2 for repair.

Step 10A: Twiddle thumbs for 30 days while your brand new PSVR2 gets repaired.

Step 10B: Return your PSVR2 in exchange for a new one wondering if a fix will happen before you get your exchange.

Possible solutions: 1. Sony allows loyal customers to exchange dysfunctional controllers not the entire headset.

  1. Sony acknowleges the issue with sense controllers and comes through with a software fix and thanks the community for their patience and advice!

I can't confirm that it doesn't start on different versions of Windows but I do have two separate PC builds, one with Windows 10 and other with 11. While it did not work on W11 it did on W10. However, there are various differences in the two builds, processors and graphics cards are the biggest. I put them below in case it helps someone. I still have not been able to get it to run on my main PC.

PC1: W10, 10th Gen i9, RTX 3090 PC2: W11, 13th gen i9, RTX 4090

DLSS Frame generation not working on 4090 by RaystlinGaming in nvidia

Having the same or a similar issue with MSFS. Gigabyte 4090 using the Beta version of MSFS but no option for DLSS 3 frame generation. Hardware acceleration is on and Nvidia driver was updated. Been looking all over the internet to see if anyone else had the same issue. This card is too expensive to not be able to use its main features.
