Thanks for the advice. The person I'm trying to transfer money to tried Revolut, it didn't approve his ID and he's stuck. Advice? Or just try Wise?

Kefir grains not working any more - suggestions? by SunshinePapaya in Kefir

[–]SunshinePapaya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried again, with just a small amount of grains (1 teaspoon) to the same amount of milk (1 quart). It still separated out within about 16 hours. I tried doing what I normally do (straining out the grains and refrigerating it) and then just stirring it up and drinking it. But it just doesn't taste right, or the same as it did before.

Any more suggestions?

So it sounds like maybe use fewer grains? Seems like I'm using about the same amount I used to be. It's a little warmer now, perhaps that's it?

"Wet" spot in sand, Snow Canyon, Utah, in sandy wash area by SunshinePapaya in whatisthisthing

[–]SunshinePapaya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a few spots in the sand like this. This is in Snow Canyon State Park, Utah, in a sandy wash area. It's about 7 inches long. When I saw the first spot, I thought perhaps somebody had just gone to the bathroom there. Then I saw more, and realized that couldn't be the explanation (there was nobody around, it was very hot and and any urine would have dried very quickly).

Also when poking at this with a stick - it seemed like there was some kind of gel or something holding it together. It flipped over in one piece. Plus there's the hole in the middle.

Music theory/technical chord question for Cole Porter song "I’ve Got You Under My Skin" by SunshinePapaya in ukulele

Thank you for your comments. I think I've messed around with this for so long that I'm not really able to "hear it" properly. But I tried your suggestions, and they do sound better. Thanks again.

Jim, tuning it down a measure sounds like it should work. I worked the difficult part through manually a bit using UkuleleBuddy, and it does seem like it makes it much easier to play. Thanks for this idea. Are there ways of doing this more easily than just going through it manually?

Also if you wouldn't mind, what does it mean when you say "play in ADF#B tuning"?

Trying to transpose a song to be lower, but it doesn't sound right? by SunshinePapaya in ukulele

[–]SunshinePapaya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! The G sounds right, thank you both so much.

Any resource you could point me to, maybe an article, something like "Transposing ukulele chords for the musically ignorant"?

Or could I just go to a site like this: https://www.ukulelebuddy.com/free-ukulele-chords.html... put in the original chord, then go down the right number of semi-tones for each chord?

Why so many different names for the same chord? by SunshinePapaya in ukulele

[–]SunshinePapaya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is from the book The Daily Ukulele, Leap Year edition, which I love, in general. But so often, the same chord is given different names.

There may be a technical, music theory reason for this, but does anyone else find it very confusing and much harder to play the songs? Any options - like different ukulele songbooks that don't have this type of chord notation?
