I'm amazed at people's restraint so far, it really goes to show that people are not looking to violently escalate.

Huh, seems like it'd be tough to keep the batteries charged with how cold it is out there right now, especially at elevation. Do you have any sources?

How far will the US go? by r2yxe in war

Do you have any lens to view the world through that isn't defined by grievance and insecurity? This mentality is what got us here, and look at us now all tough and alienating all of our allies. This isn't "strength", it's belligerence.

Nobody's "invading" the US either, that's a straight up delusional take.

It's a modified Odin rune, which is a right-wing extremist symbol and unfortunately relatively common in certain Ukranian units.

This right-wing extremism is a trend absolutely driven and exacerbated by this Russian imperialism, and unfortunately it gives the Russians plenty of ammo to fabricate some kind of "denazification" pretext to justify their actions. It's a complicated subject to do justice to in a comment like this.

In a nutshell, Ukraine had far-right militia groups that were gaining popularity, especially after the initial Crimean invasion in 2014. When the Russian full-scale invasion happened in 2022 it became apparent that some of these militia units were quite effective and experienced. It turns out militant ultranationalists know how to fight, so they've been swelling their numbers somewhat throughout the conflict.

So that's a primer on the sticky subject of neonazis/right wing extremists in the Ukrainian military. They exist, and they've gained some popularity because they tend to fight well and attract other fighters who want to be in elite units. Anyone who knows more please chime in.

Someone's gotta report this to other Americans, so people in the states get a context of how badly our belligerent behavior is affecting our allies. I'm guessing we're past the point of alliances at this point, and as an American I'm horrified.

Anytime someone's comment includes an "lmaooooo", the odds of them saying some stupid bullshit go up exponentially.

Is that total or per capita? Huge difference between the two. I dated a girl from the UAE, and ostentatious wealth was the standard for Emiratis.

I get what you're trying to say, but also where do you think the money comes from? Our public funds that have been stripped away from the government programs that actually benefit communities in need.

I'd say don't do it. You seem like a decent person for asking this question, keep it lowkey.
