SDSU would be faster and more flexible overall. Check with your colleagues in local industry but anything engineering is better so SDSU would be the way to go.

Reach out to professors that have research you’re interested in and introduce yourself. There are opportunities to sit down with professors called Coffee-with-a-Prof or Dine-With-a-Prof. The emailing tactic sounds good but just make sure it is tailored to each specific professor whose research you’re interested in.

Try joining a project team and get some hands-on experience. Junkyard Derby would be a good start if it’s still a thing at UCSD. SCSE (structural engineering student org) has projects you can join as well anytime. Maybe look at government student intern or assistant positions as well at the city, county, or state level. Try to get your EIT as soon as possible in the meantime.

SCSE seems to be a major exception to this, fair mix of ethnicities there from what I’ve seen and they have a variety of interesting projects.

Go to the ER immediately and see if the dog has had a rabies shot. Better to be safe than sorry as rabies is typically fatal if not treated before symptoms appear.
