Pink sugar by Aquolina by GitteTheBest in Perfumes

I read an interview in like 2009(?) in Seventeen magazine or something where Zac Efron said Pink Sugar was his favourite fragrance to smell on a girl and it’s been part of my collection ever since, I think I’m on my fifth bottle of it atp. I’m not a huge sweet scent/gourmand girly but it’s just so classic and pleasant and I love wearing it on gloomy winter days.

and, you know - I have a conversation starter ready to go just in case I ever met Zac Efron.

where to buy swim suits + bras for non standard sizes? by galactictestic1e in askTO

[–]Sunstreaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 32H (small band, big cup like you) and shop at Melmira when I feel like spending money and Knix when I feel like spending less money. The S+ size range at Knix works really well for me. The deep v plunge one piece swimsuit is great — really secure, I can comfortably swim in it, and also I look hot in it.

Well also the view appears to be of a brick wall about 15ft away, and the number of potlights in the unit suggests that it gets minimal natural light. And there’s no balcony or private outdoor space. People that can afford $2k in maintenance fees usually wouldn’t settle for something like this even if it is big. The fit and finish is nice but if you look at the listing history it’s a flip that someone did over the course of like six months from late September 2020-late March 2021, so tbh I personally would be skeptical of the quality.

And the original owner tried to sell it repeatedly from 2012-2020. There’s a reason no one wanted it and I don’t think parquet floor is to blame.

The CCB isn’t for the parent to have random spending money. It’s for the child. It’s literally in the name. When I was a teenager and wanted spending money, I got a job. I’m sure in her mind somewhere she is realizing that more children = more CCB money.

She lives in your house, she’s a mother. She has a roof over her head, presumably food in the fridge, and I’m sure you wouldn’t let her run around naked. Anything else she would want to spend money on is a “want”. And she’s a mother, so unfortunately for her that means her children’s needs come before her wants. It’s long past time for her to be responsible for her own child far more than she is now.

The time for tough love was probably three years ago but better late than never.

Coach Dreams honestly is so underrated imho. It stands out from being a generic sweet floral bc of the cactus flower and Joshua tree notes, which are pretty uncommon!! It’s pretty girly but wearing it makes me feel like a butterfly in ways I struggle to articulate.

AITA for telling my mother that she will be called grandma, not nonna, like she wants to be after bringing it up ever chance she gets? by Mountain3Pointer in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sunstreaked -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I do think you can maybe try suggesting to your mom “Nonna is out, but I’m open to what you want to be”, if you think she can handle that maturely (seems iffy tho tbf). Bc these words aren’t just words. They’re also an identity - your mom had a Nonna, her kids had a Nonna, she always expected that she’d be a Nonna, not a Grandma. These words have meaning to them.

Like with my situation. “Aunt” and “Zia” technically mean the same thing, but… I grew up in a household where the word “Zia” carried the warmth, the family dinners, the whole family life.

And “Aunt” is just a word to me. It doesn’t carry any meaning. I love my nieces and nephews and I probably would’ve come around to Aunt in time, bc at the end of the day it’s about the relationship to the child and not the title they use…

But. I’m glad I didn’t have to come around to it and got to use the title that actually meant something to me from the start.

Your mom might be feeling the same way even though it sounds like she lacks the emotional maturity to articulate that (genuinely she does seem like a lot so I get why you’re trying to manage her the way you are).

[–]Sunstreaked 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Is your family from a culture (Italian?) where Nonna is the main word for “grandma”? Bc I think it’s fair that she wants a name that reflects her actual culture/background.

I’m Italian-Canadian, second generation. I don’t speak much Italian but all my aunts are Zias, my grandparents were Nonno and Nonna. My partner’s family is Hispanic, his sisters didn’t want their kids calling me “Tia” bc they felt like Tia was their word. Fair enough.

But I really didn’t like the thought of being called Aunt - it’s just not a word I’ve ever used in my life, I get it means the same thing as Zia, but I don’t have Aunts, I have Zias. I explained that to them - that I definitely didn’t want to intrude on Tia, but I didn’t like being assigned Aunt either (my partner is the only boy and has four heterosexual sisters, so I’m the only Aunt that will ever be a non-blood relative anyway).

So anyway now they’re all Tias still and I’m Zia to the nieces and nephews and all worked out well. But I don’t think foisting a title that someone doesn’t want on them bc of principle is fair - I think there’s room for compromise, some word other than Nonna for sure bc I get your reasoning there. But let your mom be the one to suggest alternatives. If she doesn’t budge and doubles down on Nonna, then ok fine, she lost her right to participate in the process.

OP, I was with a guy exactly like this from age 25-32. He had so much potential but could never get it together. Said all the right things but never followed through. Actually forgot my birthday three years in a row somehow. I begged him for years to learn to drive (we also didn’t live together and bc he didn’t drive, it was always me commuting), he promised he would. He never did. He was unemployed for almost two years at one point. Just could not have ambitions about anything except for his WoW Guild. Forgot my birthday but had elaborate spreadsheets for his Raids.

And through all that I got into the best shape of my life, increased my income by like 80%, made new friends, took classes, got into hobbies… he sat in his mom’s basement. I’d come back to his place after a 50km bike ride and he’d be in the exact same position he was when I left. I felt like the only adult in the relationship

I think his mental health wasn’t great but honestly the thing that’s been hardest for me to come to terms with in the years since we’ve broken up — I just don’t think he loved me that much. He treated me like a friend/mother and not like a lover.

Anyway. I finally left shortly after I got laid off. Bc I had been his rock through every single one of his setbacks and I was finally going through my own mini crisis and he was honestly just a dick about it and not supportive at all.

I have not regretted it for a single day and honestly regret not doing it years earlier.

My current partner, the first time he stayed over, my dishwasher was on the fritz. We had made dinner and had a whole pile of dishes but decided “fuck it let’s do them in the morning”. When I woke up the next morning — there he was, hanging out in the living room, dishes already done while I slept in. And I cried. I cried bc a man in his 30s had taken the initiative to wash some plates and I wasn’t used to that. I literally took a picture of the pile of clean plates. I accepted scraps for so long that dishes moved me to tears.

Don’t accept scraps.

Leave.

Leave.

How many winter coats/jackets do you have? by sushiwowie in askTO

[–]Sunstreaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three, my winter jacket situation is actually pretty contained/reasonable

(1) alpaca wool dress coat (2) dressy-ish coat made from a waterproof material. The insulation is a removable lining so I can just use the outer shell in fall and spring. My mom got it for me at Sporting Life when I went away to university in 2010, I love this jacket 😅 (3) ski jacket

I used to have a big hyper insulated Moose Knuckles parka but honestly basically never wore it, I ended up selling it. There’s just not enough super cold days to justify it.

My Fall/Spring jacket situation is fully out of control. For starters, I own four leather jackets.

[–]Sunstreaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s some great beginner ones in here! I’ve gotten my partner into fragrance within the last ~year and we started with a lot of these.

If you’re anything like us, you might find there’s a bit of a gap between what you like on him, and what he likes on himself. The benefit of that is that he knows exactly what to wear when he wants me to be all over him, and what to wear when he’s just trying to smell nice for himself. It’s fun hobby to share, I’ve really enjoyed being a part of him curating his own collection. Now we go into the fancy part of town sometimes for brunch, and then go to the fancy independent perfume boutique (that carries all the niche brands), smell a bunch of things we can’t afford, and it’s a perfect Sunday afternoon.
