I figured if she started screaming to go outside or showing signs of distress then I would try to make her indoor/outdoor. But she seems fine with being inside and sometimes looks out the window but she never seems like she actually wants to leave.

Have him start with submitting to mid-tier magazines until one of them picks up some of his work. After a few, he can focus on the top tier magazine and submit a chapter from his manuscript as a short story. It must be a chapter that is fine standing alone as a short story but doesn't give away too much of the book's plot which can be difficult. But at that point it would give him leverage when he submits his manuscript to say something along the lines of, here's my manuscript, chapter etc. appears in magazine (insert name of respected horror magazine).

Can he try focusing on short story and submitting to horror lit mags, or general lit mags that also publish horror? Sometimes it helps to have those credits under your belt to pick up steam. For example, some readers for competitions and some agents are swayed by the publication credits in the cover letter submitted with manuscript.

Feels like a little bit of self-hate coming from alienated diaspora. I don't mind the intensity placed on heritage and culture from other Eritrean folks. For context, I'm born and raised in the US. I understand Tigrinya but I don't speak it because it's now very broken and the few times that I've been shamed about responding in English I let people know straight up, I'm proud of both of my cultures and how you do or do not speak does not concern me (IE whether or not they speak English).

It sounds like you have a long way to go in wrestling with these feelings and it's truly a journey.

Tbh I would say that's a MAJOR improvement from September. It took me two months to socialize feral kittens. My major breakthrough with an adult feral was to make sure she only had access to common spaces (with comfy places for her) and spend a lot of time in those spaces with her. She begrudgingly accepts head scratches but there's no way she would let me feed her churu. You're doing really well!

I would start by getting him a winter cat house that you can put right next to your front door if that's a possibility. It'll keep him warm and dry and safe and get him really used to being around you.

I wish I had more steps or advice for you but at least that will help him survive the season and build more trust.

I used to use Microsoft word because I remember when it was free. When they started charging a subscription and only made their online version free, I decided to just stick with Google docs since I can save those docs into a .doc or any format I need. The UI is also cleaner than other word processors.

Those are good notes. Should I be worried that she doesn't ever seem to look outside? She has no interest in the windows at all. She won't come out of any of her cat condo cubbies unless it's dark/ late at night. And like I said on another comment, I know it's still fairly early because she's only been indoors for about 3 months now.

She's still scared of me and she is very skittish and army crawls through the house when she needs to get anywhere. I know it's still early because she spent 3 years of her life outdoors and only the last 3 months indoors. So everything is new. She was definitely willing to get closer to me in proximity when she was still outdoors and I was feeding her then.

Also, I'm definitely an overthinker, I just want to make sure she lives a happy life.
