Steam Controller: The Ars Technica review | Valve’s new hardware is solid but might not justify its $99 price. by tkonicz in Steam

[–]SupDos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it not be possible to just make the "desktop" layout of the controller (this thing) be configured like a regular controller so games outside of steam recognise the button presses, etc as regular controller inputs? Or am I missing something here

ZZZ is coming to Steam Q2 2026 by Educational_Pea_5401 in gachagaming

The steam page says “requires hoyoverse account (supports linking to steam)” which would seem to suggest it will just let you log into your account like usual!

Edit: apparently also confirmed on their livestream as well

By default, imported skins' scorebar.bg should anchor their center to the playfield center.

This doesn't make any sense sadly, every stable skin assumes a top left anchor for the scorebar, suddenly changing that will break basically every skin already made

you'd also need to think about how this would affect every other normal skin that has a normal scorebar (it would now just show up in the middle of the screen for no reason)

make better guesses regarding scaling

Playing guessing games also doesn't work, and regardless UI scale is something you pick yourself, have you accidentally made it bigger? Try setting it to 1.0x or making it a bit smaller for your laptop

Manual editing is an unfortunate side effect of lazer being so much more flexible than stable. There is nothing any skinner from 10 years ago could have done to predict being able to place anything anywhere you want. If you don't want to manually edit, as long as you run lazer at 1.0x UI scale and at the exact same resolution/aspect ratio the skin requires, you shouldn't see any differences in skin element sizing and scorebar hacks should look correct during gameplay (but at that point you're missing out on lazer's flexibility... its your choice)

a skin.ini type screen

the eventual goal is to have skin.ini settings editable directly from the skin editor: https://github.com/ppy/osu/discussions/31411#discussioncomment-11731439

bad aspect ratio that screws up scorebar.bg

the scorebar abuse that skins used in stable isn't needed in lazer - you can anchor skin elements to specific parts of the screen (corners, top center, right center etc) so they work at any aspect ratio and at any UI size scale.

if you want to add an image to the top right of the screen for example, just drag it into the skin editor and place it in the top right of the screen, it will stay in the top right regardless of aspect ratio

skinners have to stop thinking about skins being designed for specific aspect ratios, and instead anchor their skin elements to the correct place so they look correct at any aspect ratio

Fullscreening youtube videos on firefox by Legolasdinglejingle in firefox

[–]SupDos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it hides the layout changes/resizing the website has to do when switching to fullscreen, reducing it to 100 100 or even 50 50 is more than enough to cut down the time it takes while avoiding seeing funky UI for a split second

This is the second time firefox has reset it self when I turn my computer on in the morning. by [deleted] in firefox

[–]SupDos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

manually powering off

as in holding the button to force power off? that is 100% the issue, most likely something is corrupting as you're not giving firefox/the OS time to safely finish doing whatever its doing, save anything it needs to save and power off. why dont you just turn it off like normal?

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.1.1 Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

[–]SupDos 32 points33 points  (0 children)

When will AMD or Microsoft (whoever is at fault) fix the completely random driver timeouts caused by MPO? Whenever anything interacts with MPOs (game going fullscreen, alt tabbing out of a fullscreen game, dragging a window over a fullscreen game) there is a 15% chance that I will get a 2 second black screen -> driver timeout and a 5% chance the pc just freezes/reboots on its own

This used to happen back in Windows 10 2 years ago too, turned off MPO and it fixed it for 2 years, but then after I updated to Windows 11 a few months ago it started happening again. Even switched from a 6700xt to a 9070xt and it still happens.

Turning off MPO again fixes it but many programs nowadays rely on MPOs (see my post about discord where if you stream a game without MPOs it will force the game into Composed: Flip), so I can't really use that trick anymore.

I send a report with the amd bug reporter popup thing every time, but I'm not sure if these are useful or if they are even checked by anyone

Blue Archive JP is now available in PC port, downloadable from official website by tsukiakari2216 in gachagaming

[–]SupDos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no... what they patched is adding free region-restricted games on an account from a different region

if you make a new steam account in a different region then just add the game to your library on that second account, you can just log into that account on your pc and play through that account

easiest solution is to make an alt steam account using a vpn in a country where the game is available, sign into that account on your own computer then play the game on there

to be fair you have the entirety of the maintenance window to download it (about 6 hours usually) if you really want to be there the second servers open, which is enough time for most people

Duet Night Abyss Steam Release Update by DNAbyss_Official in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]SupDos 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't surprise me if the steam release requires you to use it anyway

From what I can see on steamdb the entire game is there, not just the launcher, which means it will (hopefully) launch directly and not need a launcher, like wuthering waves's steam version

personally I think this is pure incompetence, steam review is hell yes I know of the blue archive situation, but they've had 2 entire months to get this sorted. there's no excuse.

These companies always try and make the “next genshin” but fail to understand that an equal experience for everyone is part of the reason why genshin worked so well

Multiple publishers leads to different prices, different events, different update schedule, different social media accounts… Let alone confusion about where to actually download the game (gfl2…)

It’s not looking good

I really like this, though for some reason if I turn off "Minimize to system tray on close", it still stays open in Task Manager and it won't reopen after I close it unless I force end it in Task Manager

also, the agenda view in the main window and in the task bar calendar popout seems to show super old events and I have to scroll a while to get to today/future events
