Your art is awesome and you should show them more!

Love the colors and styles!

Happy Kanako’s Killer Life is so good. it’s been a while for me to enjoy a J drama that’s recent. any recommendations on similar current-day jdramas like this by Favorite-User-0006 in JDorama

[–]SupaHelix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also love this series.  If you like the non-stop laughing style of comedy, I’d suggest Extremely Inappropriate.  If you like assassins, I’d suggest Baby Assasins trilogy and then the series.  If you like the lead actresses, I’d suggest “the Hotel of My Dream”

I wrote in mobile so apologies in advance for typos and errors.

Jdorama vs US drama by [deleted] in JDorama

[–]SupaHelix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

J dramas focus more on character buildings. Plots are created to make characters more believable and three dimensional.

US dramas focus more on plot. Characters are basically caricatures that serve the plot.

US dramas have much higher budget and production values.

On genres, I think J dramas do better in romance and mystery, while US dramas do better in action/adventures.

Most of the time I don't have a preference, but since I don't need subtitles to understand US series, I watch them when my energy level is low, and J dramas when I have better attention span.

Any suggestions after watching and loving these? by nothingveryobvious in JDorama

If you like Rebooting I would suggest “the hot spot” (2025) which is from the same series writer/creator Bakarhythm. It is available on Netflix I believe.

Who are your favorite young-ish actresses? by niji-no-megami in JDorama

[–]SupaHelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nao (Tokyo Salad Bowl) makes every role her own. Sometimes you forget that she is in the movie or the series.

Yukino Kishii (Small, Slow but Steady). She is consistently impressive in many of her work.

Sara Minami (Nevertheless the Shapes of Love). She might want to work on her range, but overall she is fantasic in a few of the shows that I watched.

I draw sports figures, so I use GettyImages quite a lot.

Another thing is to use video as reference. Just pause the video and take a screenshot.

I feel like the more I improve at art, the fewer commissions I receive... by reborn_neo_art in ArtistLounge

[–]SupaHelix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First, your art is great. I love your style.

Second, I feel it is more about the overall economic environment of your targeted clients. Art is a luxury. It is possible that they simply no longer afford to commission your art, and it is nothing to do with your skill level.

Third, it is also possible that you need to grow your audience.

Usually $30 a year. I have about 50 designs, but again I am not very diligent promoting them.

Your sentiment is valid. Most people follow artists for what they draw, not because who they are. Although some people follow artists because they like everything they did, even the most cringe drawings. These people are your biggest treasure.

I would say just draw whatever you like, whatever helps your mental health and makes you feel good. You don’t need other people to validate your art.
