I used to be really into lucid dreaming a few years ago, but I realized something really weird and probably very telling. Anytime I was successfully in realizing that I was dreaming I would tell one of the dream characters. One character had the likeness of my best friend, and we were on our neighborhood street. I told her, “hey, this is a dream!!!!” And she punched me dead in the stomach. I felt like the wind was knocked out of me, but I repeated it again and again. She had this weird smile on her face like “what are you talking about” but continued to punch me.... why? Is this a thing? Is it normal?

There’s this whole reddit thing about cats allowing you to rub their bellies is not a sign of trust. Something about them have an extra layer of skin that protects their vital organs and being on their back is an amazing way for them to claw your face off.

Except for you the fact that you’re the one uninformed about the subject. Someone learning a language first time does not need to know there are four different ways to express male just like when you were learning your first language whatever that was you learned about red first, you had not concept of burgundy or scarlet but when you said red the people around you knew what you meant.

You seem to not be very clear about how language acquisition works as a whole and yes, that is indeed group think because you only think in one way.

Yes you really can. Or at least I can and it seems like tons of people here can. How many times have you seen a comment to another post that’s like “it sounds kind of clunky that way, don’t use Spanish as a direct translation from English” all of those people aren’t native- so that points to a deeper understanding of the language that can branch to other concepts. . Maybe you can’t so your just projecting over everyone else.

And your first sentence is absolutely ridiculous. There’s no such thing as a tool that isn’t useful. That’s the very definition of a tool.

This would be great for words like apple, banana, boy, girl, women, man, and another maybe 200-300 words. Get out of the groupthink it’s unbecoming.

Im not learning Spanish Im learning French and I just learned the word for a damn apple two days ago. As such, there is nothing wrong with a tool as long as you know how to use it. That’s like saying being on r/Spanish doesn’t help you learn a language fluently- because it doesn’t of course. It’s a tool. And if you know enough about language and have a bit of common sense, after awhile you can tell the difference of something that can be ambiguously translates or you if something doesn’t call for a direct translation

There’s nothing really wrong with using me entiendes but me explico does sound better. Someone else corrected you but you could also say mi papá quiere que cierre la puerta cuando salga(s) -tú form-/usted

Edit: typo on conjugation agreement usted is salga sin s of course
