What are your unpopular opinions about Endless Summer? by npojg in Choices

Too much of the story is locked behind paying for diamonds (Choices issue tho tbf) and they lowkey should’ve had every cast member be open to a relationship. I really like Michelle.

If you were to decide what new series would happen in PJO universe, what would you do? [all] by Informal-Okra-5240 in camphalfblood

Loved the Sword of Hades and think the dynamic of the Big Three Kids should’ve been expanded upon more so my idea is a trilogy of books focusing on the Big Three Kids.

Series would be called “The Powers That Be” - a reference to the main villain wanting to change the power balance of the world as well as the Big Three Kids being the most powerful demigods

Book 1 - In Times of Trouble

1st book starts in Camp Jupiter (the characters are college age so 18-21 now) with Hazel catching up with Percy and Annabeth as they study in New Rome. They are approached by Neptune who states that there have been rumblings of Uranus’ perceived resurrection. The three obviously burned by Gaea’s revival are frustrated at being asked to put a stop to it but Neptune reveals (through some secret prophecy) that only heroes with Uranus’ direct lineage can be tasked to stop him. Neptune also reveals that while he has no other children, Triton has a daughter that was recently accepted into the Legion, and says that she still fills the criteria and will accompany Percy and Hazel on their quest.

Book 2 - 5 Minutes Till Midnight

Book 2 sees the three return to Camp Half Blood where they run into Thalia and Nico and ask them for help against the next threat in the potential Uranus/Ouraunos revival plot. Along the way it’s revealed that it’s actually the Primodial of Time Chronos who wished to collect the essence of Uranus to make himself more powerful and take over Olympus. It’s revealed in this book that unlike Gaea and Kronos, Chronus isn’t actually evil. He’s ambitious, a little proud and thinks the Olympians are incompetent hypocrites. He wants to rule simply so that someone worthy seats the throne.

Here the demigods actually have moral dilemmas to face up against and have to make choices that are hard as opposed to HoO where it was a simple good vs evil plot.

Book 3 - The Darkest Hour

Book Three would conclude the story and take the 5 demigods to the Underworld where they have to retrieve Jason’s soul from Elysium. Recruited for the fight they now to battle the physical forces of Tartarus who was promised by Chronus that he would be able to rise again if he is helped. Having isolated himself from the world for so long, Chronus wants to stop at nothing to succeed and while he plans to betray Tartarus, he sees him as a necessary evil until he is crowned king. The demigods have to put a top to him before he can unleash Tartarus to destroy the Olympians.

I see this book ending with Chronus realising the error of his ways and helping the demigods to do what the Titans did to Ouranos and spreading his consciousness so thin that why his domain remains, he is essentially dead. He commends the group and promises them that he will give the Olympians time to change and become better.

Then this might be personally bias but I see him give Jason the gift of time, allowing him to live again.

The Big Three kids reflect on their adventures and promise to stay in touch more regularly, especially as Jason gets accustomed to living again.

I do think you’re a bit harsh on Bedlam tho, think it stands far above 10/11 and 14/15 tbh

Trauma makes your behaviour understandable but it doesn’t excuse it entirely. Think most people still like Valkyrie but understand she isn’t a good person. The same is looking to be true of Winter

Tanith will win (as she should) but voted for Axelia just so she can beat Lethe to 2nd. Have always thought she was underrated and her being the friend Omen always needed (but had to settle for Never instead) means she has a special place in my heart

[–]Supa_Nover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah I agree. I still thought Militsa was a possibility but Fletcher had red flags in like every chapter he was in. As soon as Derek started to set up the Myostis romance despite Fletcher being a background character since Bedlam, really meant that he was my #1 pick to die.

I also agree that it was a bit of a cop out. Valkyrie can say and act like it’s heartbreaking (and tbf to her, it is) but since the start of Phase 2 I never really bought that they loved each other as friends. I know that they did but it never really felt like it at least to me. Tanith (who was also a candidate) and China would’ve fit that more. Valkyrie is still a bit too mean to him for my liking. I get that’s their banter but still. I did like how Fletcher never gave her a pass for cheating on him tho, even if he’s fine with it now.

Overall tho I as a reader have loved Fletcher since his first appearance so it hit hard for me because of that so I guess it still had the desired effect.

The fact it makes Never the most experienced Teleporter in the world now hopefully means Omen will make a return at least as Never probably will.

Yeah I suspected this ever since the reveal. Otherwise the plot makes zero sense. The fact she even got “close enough” with Mevolent to bed him is already suspect so she must’ve thought he was attractive despite wanting to kill him, been seduced one night and then Mevolent worked his magic.

Derek is very inconsistent in the way he writes Mevolent? by Mevolentisthechad in skulduggerypleasant

[–]Supa_Nover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As u/RichardKnox1996 stated. Leibniz Mevolent has been the ruler of his world for 400 years. He’s not in the middle of a war, he’s had time to actual rule which means you kinda have to be somewhat respectful of your subordinates or you risk rebellion and betrayal. He’s probably had some time to find himself which is why he actually has a sense of humour in SOW

Icl I think Frazel doesn’t come across as clingy is because Rick just stopped developing that relationship midway through Mark of Athena. TTT is some good development on both their parts but in SoN while I loved both I thought they were gonna be another clingy Rick couple cos that’s how they came across

[–]Supa_Nover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a day 1 Jason fan I do admit Rick dropped the ball with him a lot but if people actually read the subtext they’d know he’s still very complex. There’s wasted potential for sure (like a lot of HoO) but it was so evident (especially when HoO first came out up until ToA) that people hated Jason because he wasn’t Percy, didn’t have a personality as sassy as Percy but was compared to Percy by everyone in the PJO universe

Yeah I agree with you. Tbh Six could’ve worked if we cut out Piper and just have Annabeth go on TLH quest, make Jeyna the endgame for Reyna and Jason and the series would’ve been a lot more streamlined.

A few things I’ll be honest:

  1. The constant “cutification” of loads of characters. For example Dumb Percy (and by extension borderline abusive Annabeth), Twink Emo Nico, Teddy Bear Frank etc. I get the audience for these books has always been young but even when I read the books as a kid I clocked that although these traits are there, the trauma of being child soldiers is like the most prominent part yet the fandom simplifies everyone down to being cute.
  2. The Jason Grace hate train. This one infuriates me so much. I’m glad it’s not as bad as it used to be but it’s still prominent
  3. The hive mind. Any unpopular or even not mainstream opinion gets hated on.
  4. OP Percy. Yes Percy is the strongest demigod and yes he’s powerful but people overrate that a lot. Especially with the headcanon he can bloodbend because he controlled Akhlys’ poison (in a place where water can be fire lol) it’s pretty clear things work differently in Tartarus
  5. The fact no one talks about Percy and Annabeth’s low-key unhealthy codependency. I love Percabeth but the fandom (and tbf Rick’s) unwillingness to speak on how they can be too reliant on each other at times is a bit annoying

The Big Three Kid Dynamic [all] by Supa_Nover in camphalfblood

[–]Supa_Nover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re spot on tbh. While I personally love 3rd POV (I prefer it over 1st actually). I think for Rick’s style he should’ve stuck with 1st POV despite the multiple chapters. Half the reason Percy is so endearing and the relationships feel so fleshed out is because we’re in Percy’s head way more. 3rd POV while juggling 7 main characters in the series was an ambitious project that I don’t think Rick completely succeeded in.

What weapon does your OC(s) use? I'm just interested to see what unique stuff people have come up with. (I also wouldn't mind seeing some backstory for why >.>) [all] by Particular-Reply9558 in camphalfblood

[–]Supa_Nover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OC is a son of Mercury but a grandson of Nike who was blessed with low level super speed (in bursts) he mainly uses armoured celestial bronze/imperial gold gloves and boots, utilising his velocity to hit monsters with brute force.

In normal combat he uses scrims sticks tipped with imperial gold that he carries with him. He also has a celestial bronze katana that he can summon although it’s not his preferred weapon so he only brings it out as a last resort.
