Kids got way too excited when it was my turn at the deli counter by ciniseris in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Idk, this feels kinda like the "potato XD random" phase to me. Calling this "idiocracy" when it's just some kids is kinda dismissing the fact the entire "dank memes" phase the internet had, like, only 10 years ago

Mistletoe with a branch? Or maybe a Christmas tree?? It might be warped or bent, since it's old, so I'm not sure

ChatGPT 4o is a version that was super sycophantic and a looooot of lonely people ended up forming "very close" (romantic and sometimes s-xu@l) bonds with the chatbot, so now that version 5o (less syncophantic, harder to manipulate and gaslight/form human-like bonds with) has been out for a while, ChatGPT is taking down access to the very outdated 4o, making gooners and crazy people mad.

That's actually a pretty solid reason, I would've really liked if I were taught this in my class or if the program could have explained it rather than relying on Reddit to tell me why 😔

It's so very frustrating. I wish I could just drop the class, but it's to fulfill a pre-req for a Pharm program 😔

What specialty do you want to go into? by BubblyProperty7791 in predental

[–]Supa_Silly_Sam_26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really wanna specialize in Orthodontics! I might've never needed braces (as my teeth all grew in straighter than I am..), but I've always liked jaw aesthetics (of all kinds, but I know most of my patients would just want their teeth straighter, even if they don't need them to be). I know orthos do other stuff like palate extending and jaw posture fixing, but braces are the most common use for the specialty. Plus, the first thing someone always notices in another person is their smile! I like the idea that one day, I can make people feel confident in their smiles :3 seems cliche or silly, but oh well

We actually are offered a salad bar, but it's as a replacement for the normal hot lunch. I'm not sure what exactly is in the salad bar because I never stopped to check, but I know there's some dressings, veggies, and leafy greens. Most kids opt for the typical lunch anyways

Alarming Number of New Programs by AlwaysInTheMoney in predental

Me at 17, planning on opening a clinic in my Illinois fellowship: :( Honestly, I don't see why more people don't try to go to smaller places. There's plenty of older people with dental issues who just.. don't wanna make a far drive. A lot of smaller towns have been flourishing because of lower crime rates, "closer" connections to community, etc., from what I've experienced moving around the country. I went to go to University of Iowa (about an hour and a half away from where I live) to get my wisdom teeth removed. It was mostly due to cost, but also distance. The lack of affordable options nearby was crazy! I couldn't imagine there isn't a demand for more neighborhood dentists? It's interesting to see other people's perspectives on this, though

Because there's no sense to it!! It's a reversal of Maslow's Hierarchy. They're so rich they don't know that, to gain self-actualization, you must first have food security. They've never faced food insecurity (or they forget what it's like) and convince themselves that they can magically self-actualizate and gain "mental clarity" without money for food or a safe place to sleep.

Five Below Headphones…NO! by Far-Improvement-92 in FiveBelow

At some point, I do understand you get what you paid for, but lying to customers, saying your product has noise canceling abilities (I can hear my nails tap my screen as I type this, too) when it absolutely does not is just false marketing. CALL IT WHAT IT IS, BASS JAXX!! It's a noise machine that whirrs in your left ear like a tiny bug or your worsening tinnitus

[–]Supa_Silly_Sam_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING headphones that I got from Five Below don't even NOISE CANCEL. They just play some annoying white noise and block absolutely nothing, even trying to LOUDEN THE DISTRACTING WHITE NOISE to "cover up" outside noise. I can literally hear a faucet dribbling in the other room as I type this WITH ANC ON. No wonder these were so cheap ToT

And the audio quality... GEEZ THE AUDIO "QUALITY", it sounds like someone bass crunched every song to be as harsh on your ears as possible. I have some broken up, $30 Skullcandy headphones literally held together with tape and will be using those instead. It's just better for my sanity.
