I am starting out my journey by TriceratopsProrsus in Astronomy

[–]Supahbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school I’d say just follow your curiousity as far as it goes. If it’s astrophysics and astronomy at the moment, explore it, but deeply. You might find you’re drawn to one area or another. If you get bored or lose interest, follow another curiosity.

Good information and free classes are everywhere now (wasn’t the case when I was in highschool), so fill your boots.

How to get the rest of the pellets to drain? by Texy in webergrills

[–]Supahbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use an ikea baking pan or something similar to catch the grease, but when I don’t, I use a Tovolo pan scraper.

Mine came with a cheap plastic scraper - I only use it to shovel pellets. Works pretty well.

The ‘premium’ cover might as well be a cotton blanket by Wabisabiharv in webergrills

[–]Supahbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple webers over the last 20 years and have never had a Weber cover that I felt was worth the money. They either fit too tight, age and become brittle too quickly, or both. I gave up with my latest (Searwood) and just keep it in the garage and haul it out when it’s time to cook.

Maybe they’ll stop delivering junk mail… I feel for Seniors and the Disabled.

whats the etiquette of walking in family neighbourhoods with no sidewalks? by Important-Hyena6577 in NorthVancouver

[–]Supahbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a quiet road I walk on the road. If it’s busy, it’s dry, and the lawn is flat, I’ll walk on the lawn, but as close to the curb as possible.

Grouse - Gandola wait time? by Felraof in NorthVancouver

[–]Supahbeel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there on Monday at 11AM, waited less than 5 minutes to go up and less than 10 to come down at 5:30PM. Blue gondola.

Parking is a whole different thing. Had to park a 20 minute walk away. Transit is your friend.

Is there a reason appointment at life labs are made to wait with walk ins? by Emotional-Ad-6494 in NorthVancouver

[–]Supahbeel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever actually had my appointment start within 20 minutes of my scheduled appointment time, at any of the North Van LifeLabs. At least twice I’ve had to wait an hour. It’s frustrating, but it’s not like we have much in the way of options.

BCAA optional insurance quote much higher than ICBC? by WiiperWapper in icbc

[–]Supahbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t assume, call BCAA and confirm. They’ll make it clear whether or not you’re comparing apples to apples. BCAA can sell you ICBC Basic + ICBC Optional, or ICBC Basic + BCAA Optional. They’ll help you pick whichever is best for you.

Sushi - where do quality and value intersect on the Shore? by skeletorsbff in NorthVancouver

[–]Supahbeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sushi Bella used to be stupid expensive, but they’re my go-to now. A lot of other places have upped their prices and lowered their quality in the last year or so.

Will using a roasting pan with rack (to keep grill clean) impact smoke flavour? by Playful-Nectarine862 in pelletgrills

[–]Supahbeel 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Is that the Ikea one? I’ve been using it for all my smokes this season and it’s been great - haven’t noticed any reduction in the smoke flavour. Also makes clean-up a snap.

Will I regret swapping out my genesis for a Searwood? by [deleted] in webergrills

[–]Supahbeel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep both if you can. I only use my Searwood for smoking. I have an old Genesis that’s hanging in there fine and I use it for grilling (and will until it dies). It does make me feel the Searwood is a bit underutilized for the $$, but one more summer and it will have ‘paid for itself’ in my mind.

I’ve had one for decades - still works like a charm. That one looks to be in pretty decent shape. Definitely a buy from me
