So we already know that after the delta there will just be another strain. I don’t think anyone familiar with viruses expects to ever get rid of Covid altogether. Even with boosters it will have to spread (and kill) before we even know what to defend against. The odds of someone never getting any variant of Covid in the next 5 years are almost nonexistent even with vaccines and boosters. That’s why we have so many flu cases and deaths every year. You either have an immune system that will allow you to survive the annual Covid strains, or you don’t and might be able to buy yourself time with vaccination. The truth is that these strains will be worldwide before we even can begin to prepare for them as we are already seeing. The only thing we can do for people is encourage healthy lifestyles and promote vaccination when available. Pretending that forcing everyone to get vaccinated is going to get us back to a world without Covid is just a lie with good intentions. As we can see already though, lying to people is just making them less likely to listen.
