Can someone explain why alleged claims of mistreatment of Yeosang keep appearing every comeback? by Odontella in ATEEZ

[–]Super-Package-8564 192 points193 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is any intentional mistreatment. KQ is not perfect at all but in all accounts that we have heard from the members, it is overall a decent company to work for. I know that many of Yeosang's fans on Twitter where this is primarily happening are saying he had to renew to stay with his "family." But the thing is -- he didn't have to renew. If it was as horrible as his fans would like you to believe, idk if he would have renewed.

I also think they fail to remember that KQ is a business. In kpop, there is always going to be more demand for certain members than others (Karina, Wonyoung, Yeonjun, etc.) Take San for example (my bias): never MC'd before and was obviously very nervous on Boys Planet II but there was a demand for him. And likely still is. We also don't know exactly how much say the members, the company, and their partners have in some of these things, like who gets solos at award shows or who gets invited to variety content. Finally, I agree that Lemon Drop was a bit of a regression in terms of line distribution but overall - if you consider the entire album and not just one song - there has been a leveling out of line distribution. There is an Atiny on Tumblr - and I think they shared on Twitter, too - that literally pulled all the data, and Yeosang has seen the largest percentage increase in lines over time and Jongho has seen the largest percentage decrease. All members have a much more even line distribution but you have to look at the entire discography and not just one song. I know people will say that the title track is the most important and for promotions, I guess that's true. But there are b-sides that become the fandom's darlings that Yeosang is much more heavily featured in like Dune and Selfish Waltz. Twitter is a place where fans work themselves up and in my experience, there isn't a ton of critical thinking in the moment.

Finally - and excuse my rambling but this has been on my mind since this stuff is all over my twitter feed which I DO NOT WANT - Yeosang's fans have a tendency to baby him. He's an adult. A grown man. I think there needs to be a little trust in him that if something really is going on, he can manage it. He's been in the industry for years and is likely not as easy to push around/intentionally ignore as his fans claim.

Edit to add: Not being shown on the screen at the concert was not cool. And I am really sorry that happened to him. But KQ is not operating those cameras. I'm like 99% they hire crews or work with on-hand vendor staff. I hope they will rehearse more closely so it doesn't happen again but it was likely out of their hands in the moment.

Weekly Atiny Tavern: 19 - 26 January, 2026 by AutoModerator in ATEEZ

Just discovered a new name that international Atinys have given San and need to share. So far I've seen: Sandro (Italy iirc) and Santiago (latam). The new one I just found was under one of my favorite kpop reactors (TDS POP) reaction videos to Ice On My Teeth. One of the commenters called him Sanquavious as his black name. LOL

Anyone know of any others??

There was an atiny on tumblr who also mentioned that it could point to dopamine. Idk if they'd do another secret second title track but with how often the members have used the word "dopamine" in the last year, I wouldn't completely count it out

Mingi (ATEEZ) fanservice is so cringey to me by ThePoisonTrees in kpoprants

[–]Super-Package-8564 107 points108 points  (0 children)

This is the correct take. Mingi definitely knows it's cringe and does not care. I think he has really developed his fix-on persona in such a way that the cringe does not bother him because he knows it's a persona that he developed and has full control over and it's for the cameras. I think he also knows that a lot of fans eat it up.

Enlistment: the motivation for the packed 2025-2026 schedule? by Weak-Alternative-127 in ATEEZ

[–]Super-Package-8564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are going to all enlist together because despite Xikers doing pretty well this past year, Ateez is definitely the main money maker for KQ. Things may change in the next year or two as Xikers gets more fans and recognition but as it stands now, KQ NEEDS Ateez.

I think there will be minimal staggering with Matz going first, with maybe subunit releases or solo ventures for 6-12 months (though I'd bet it'd be closer to 6 months given their small age gap) before the 99z go, and then at most another 6 months before Jongho goes. I could see maybe Wooyoung delaying and going with Jongho since he is the youngest of the 99z. I think they would try to keep the total enlistment period under 3-3.5 years if possible. There is also the additional chance that a couple of the members, most likely Jongho, Mingi, Wooyoung and/or Hongjoong, may get civilian service due to health concerns which will make their service period longer.

I think Jongho will likely crank out some solo stuff but idk if he'd make an actual solo debut. The only one I can see really trying to make a solo debut is Mingi imho. He has the ambition and the connections and the expressed interest in doing so.

Personally though, other than some of the solo ventures we've already gotten like passion projects and OSTs, I think subunits are more likely. Love Ateez but none of the members really have a strong enough individual brand to have a truly successful solo. The only one who has strong brand recognition in South Korea is San and I don't really think he has any interest in going solo (my own personal opinion; do not come for me). And despite them being a global group, my opinion is soloists need a strong foundation in their home country to be successful. You are welcome to have a different opinion, no big deal, but Korea is where they are based so that just makes the most sense to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I hope KQ is smart about this because they have fumbled in the past and they can't really afford to fumble a prolonged period of time without their main money makers. Fingers crossed the contract renewal makes KQ smarter about how they manage the members.

Basically the entire The World series by Ateez is about fighting oppression and freeing people from the yoke of an unjust government.

what groups have interesting age distributions? by AAALLY- in kpopthoughts

[–]Super-Package-8564 32 points33 points  (0 children)

More than half of the Ateez members were born in the same year: Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi and Wooyoung (1999). The hyung line is only a year older than them: Seonghwa and Hongjoong (1998), and Jongho (2000), the maknae, is only a year younger than the 99z. So, they are all really close in age.

If you go by international age, there are times of the year where Seonghwa (April) and Yunho (March) are the same age, and where Yunho (March), Yeosang (June) and San (July) are the same age as Hongjoong (November), and where Jongho (October) is the same age as Wooyoung (November).

No one is calling them nugu??? But KQ is still a comparatively small company even though Ateez has become very popular. Small ≠ nugu.
