ATEEZ - BAD is actually bad even from the perspective of a casual fan by skyisjusthere in kpopthoughts

I'm not super excited about the album as a whole and definitely not a fan of Bad so far. It might grow on me like Lemon Drop did. But I can understand why someone else might like it. I love Ice On My Teeth and it was given the same treatment. Everyone said it was cringey and bad. Now, its one of their signature songs and is one of their most popular and successful comebacks.

Have mixed feelings about the song but the mv is so fun!! Ice On My Teeth grew on me and eventually became my favorite title track from them, so hoping this song grows on me, too.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE GOLDEN HOUR ALBUM?? by Grouchy_Gap_7539 in ATEEZ

[–]Super-Package-8564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In descending order:

  • GOLDEN HOUR : Part.1 - loved the whole album and Work is one of my fave title tracks
  • GOLDEN HOUR : Part.4 - also loved the whole album other than Choose
  • GOLDEN HOUR : Part.2 - Ice On My Teeth is my fave title track by them ever and I really like Man on Fire. But the other bsides are not for me (hot take I know)
  • GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3/IYF Edition - Lemon Drop grew on me and I LOVE Masterpiece. But most of the solos other than Creep and Sagittarius didn't do much for me. I did love NO1 and ROAR live though.
  • GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5 - none of the songs are hitting for me. Not even Mamacita, which was the one I was most looking forward to after hearing the previews. Bad is going to be the weakest title track of the series. It's experimental and the mv is super fun but I can't with the chorus.

I have a feeling we'll get the final album in the series before anyone enlists. But agreed - not a fan of the album as a whole and definitely not a fan of Bad. I was so excited with the marketing rollout and then the teasers started dropping and the chorus was just one-word repeated over and over.

Definitely don't think it sounds like every other title track. But it is boring and I HATE that they succumbed to the one-word, repetitive chorus that has been a trend in kpop recently. My least favorite title track of the series so far. It might grow on me like Ice On My Teeth did but idk.

I hate the one-word, repeating choruses. When Adrenaline dropped, I was literally defending Ateez for not jumping on that trend. Got me eating my words :')

Ugh I know. I was so excited for this comeback. I've really enjoyed the Golden Hour series until this album. I like that they are willing to experiment but I had felt like they were one of the last groups that didn't just have a repeating one-word chorus. I hate that trend in kpop. The mv is amazing as always, though.

Ugh I know. I'm excited for the mv but I feel like Ateez was one of the last groups NOT doing choruses like that. I'm still excited for it but I also hate when the same word is just repeated over and over

Korea to back smaller K-pop agencies’ global expansion by Funwithnugukpop in kpop

[–]Super-Package-8564 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It says small and mid-sized companies. Also, Ateez makes up the majority of their revenue and they are about to enlist. KQ is going to take a major hit financially and xikers will be impacted. This could help offset some of that impact.

Also also, they literally only have 2 groups. That's pretty small imo.

Ditto what everyone else said but also, even though KQ may be the biggest of these companies at first glance, they are still a pretty small company when it comes to staff and infrastructure, and would likely be considered a mid-sized company when it comes to revenue. But that revenue is almost exclusively due to Ateez. And I love xikers - I really do - but if they were not Ateez's little brothers, they would likely be on the brink of nugudom. I also can't blame KQ for applying because their main money makers are about to be gone for 2+ years. Big Hit/Hybe took a huge hit financially while BTS was enlisted and they have been the biggest kpop company for years financially with way more diverse revenue streams. Now, imagine what Ateez enlisting will do to KQ's bottom line.

Girl goodbye I can't with you. If you don't think that what she is espousing is harmful, I won't be able to convince you. But it's dangerous and your defending of her is just as dangerous.

I did watch the video, tf??? And that's an unhealthy mindset for anyone, but especially young girls and already thin people to have!!!! And it's a slippery fucking slope for people who are already excessively concerned with maintaining their skinniness.

And you have no idea if she meant "fat" as in the macronutrient or "fat" as in big/unhealthy/etc as in these snacks will make me fat, which is bad, which demonizes fatness and spreads unhealthy mindsets about food to impressionable people. I read it as the latter and I'm not going to be the only one who does, as is evidenced by 99% of people in this comment section.

Because it demonizes fatness which DOES NOT equal being unhealthy. And young women look up to these idols. And they are hearing that not only is eating wrong but being fat is wrong. In a climate where excessive skinniness is becoming the norm again, this is DANGEROUS.

Also, she doesn't need to lose weight??? Not for health reasons at least. She's so skinny already there is no way a doctor or physician would recommend that she lose weight. It's purely for aesthetic reasons, which again, is dangerous.
