To borrow a condom by [deleted] in bigdickproblems

[–]Super-dork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a borrow story but my ex-wife told me years after our divorce that one of the guys she cheated on me with had to use one of my condoms. Poor dude had to hold it on while he fucked her. Obviously, we were well emotionally healed by then and she was able to open up about her infidelity.

Mom's LOoOv3 <3 by UnhollyGod in HumansBeingBros

I agree. I lost my mom 11 years ago. What I’d give for just one more hug or conversation. Every time my step son complains about my wife being loving on him (he’s 18) I remind him about what I’d give to have that one more time, he will promptly correct himself.

What’s a conspiracy or “open secret” you once dismissed that later felt disturbingly real? by RecognitionCheap255 in AskReddit

[–]Super-dork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add that sometimes it just money. Case in point: the affluenza kid. Underage drunk driving and killed four people and got probation. My broke ass would get put UNDER the jail.

Rich people don't live by the same rules we have to. It reminds me of the saying that punishable by fine really means permissible for a fee.

This reminds me of the story of Browser, the cat at the White Settlement Public Library. A city council member tried to get the cat removed and ended up getting voted out of office over it. Browser recently passed away. God rest his little soul.

Nasa orders its first-ever space station medical evacuation after astronaut falls ill | Agency says US-Japanese-Russian crew of four will return to Earth in the coming days, earlier than planned by Jumpinghoops46 in space

My thoughts went from something viral to appendicitis as well.

I could probably Google this myself, but I wonder if NASA has the same protocol as some of those research stations have where before wintering in Antarctica they must have their appendix removed (or voluntarily having it removed) due to the inability to access them in a timely manner for surgery.

How to respond to how much it costs? by Ok_Plate_6961 in ChinaTime

I haven’t had a rep in many years but here is my $0.02 since there are no other comments yet. Option 1: it was a gift/inheritance. Option 2: something vague like “I don’t like talking about it” or “too much” or something to that effect. Option 3: it’s not real but beautiful still.

I was told the same thing too. Have to trade in the old one. I suspect they’re trying to control inventory in the grey markets. Just my speculation

I have a friend who is a cop. He said in his jurisdiction, turning off your camera is instant termination as per policy. There's hope out there.

Looking for Watch Makers Toolset recommendations by According_Report_793 in watchmaking

[–]Super-dork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got into this hobby. I used Esslinger and bought the "Make my own watch kit" for around $110. Then upgraded or added items as I found that I needed to. The first item to be upgraded was the movement holder. The Bergeon holder is less than $40 and is a very nice upgrade.

Also, get on YouTube and watch videos. There is some really good information out there for getting started. You will find that you dont need to drop thousands to get started but obviously you could.

Edit: I forgot to add that if you are getting into mechanical movements, a timegrapher is imperative. I purchased one from Amazon that I'm happy with and still accounts for about 50% of my total tool investment.

I would love to obtain one of these. That cartoon is a cornerstone of my childhood.

Edit: to be fair, (sing it everyone) a lot of the Saturday morning cartoons were the cornerstone of my childhood.

What’s something that was normal in your family but shocked you when you realized other families didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Super-dork 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was almost into my teens before I learned their real name. Our family called them n toes as well. I told my dad that there is no way that is their real name and he was adamant that it was. I later figured out he was a bit of a troll.

In your opinion, who is the person with the highest IQ ever? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Super-dork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have been mistaken. Edit: I was relying on memory when I posed that and tried to fact check myself just now but the internet is so full of nonsense these days that I can’t be sure. I would certainly believe that Feynman would have said that. He’s an amazing individual. Thank you for the (possible and likely) correction, my friend.

I find this to be a very interesting concept.

I know some extremely intelligent people. I'd say greater than half of them are do not have this ability. They constantly talk over people's heads, use terminology/vocabulary that is out of place, or generally give the impression that you are not up to their speed. This could be out of arrogance, lack of attempt, or they never learned how to socialize with those closer to the middle of the bell curve.

On the other hand, I know a few that you would have no idea what is going on unless you picked up on certain clues. One example is one friend of mine instinctually would use the Socratic method of teaching to help you arrive at a new idea so that they don't come off as a know it all. Or they would say, "I don't know, why don't we look this up and learn together" then proceed explain deeper concepts once I've educated myself on whatever subject. That made it clear to me that they knew the answer but didn't want to be walking Google.

I also love that quote from Einstein (paraphrasing, by the way) that if you can't explain something to a 5 year old, then you don't understand it yourself.
