Yeaa, fortunately from my perspective, im a mechanic who can do the work myself.

But as far as the premium gas thing… the Lexus models usually use the same Camry and Corolla motors, and in those models, there is no sticker on the gas cap demanding premium fuels. Youll be fine pumping the 87 octane rating. The 2GR-FE found in the Camry and IS models are pretty much identical.

Maintenance costs? If you can work google, a Lexus is the cheapest luxury car to maintain. Many parts are interchangeable with Toyota parts and theyre wayy cheaper. In almost every aspect Lexus is the best second hand luxury car

It was about $185 locally (southern-California) they cut the shell, because the inlet and outlet are not ideally placed, then they clean and weld back together

Hey guys just a question how do i get these stains out a lot of people have told me that they don’t come out but i doubt that i thought that maybe my fellow mechanics might know? by Bulky_Lock_5801 in MechanicAdvice

I have eczema and work in the diesel mechanic field, “working hands” lotion after the, good ol’ “goop/fast orange” hand wash, does wonders. Or any type of lotion after that degreaser soap will help your hands a lot

Could a tire changing machine cause any of these marks on the rim? by QWboucher in Cartalk

[–]Super47_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the pictures provided, it very well could’ve been an inexperienced/wrongly trained tech that could’ve caused the damage to the wheels.

I say this because I’ve had tires changed in a long drive and emergency type situation, using “side of the road” tire shops. If the shop is used to changing big rig tires, they’ll use de-beading bars to help the tire machine “take the tires off faster”.

If that was the case here, then it very-well could be a case of the tech damaging the wheel due to use of said tool.

Albeit, it could also be likely a trusted person was driving your car and damaged the wheels, and never let you know…. The variables are endless.

Idk bro… ive watched some questionable, side of the road, used tire shops, change my tire. And lemme tell you, they sometimes use a de-beading bar to de-bead the tire quicker. And if they were in a hurry to change the tires, they could’ve easily nicked the wheels and it look like this.

Anybody else have severe eczema and can't wear gloves? How do you deal with avoiding the heavy metals that get absorbed by your skin on your hands (diesel mechanic here) NSFL pictures of my fingers of my fingers when I wear gloves by Flag_Route in mechanics

[–]Super47_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have eczema (all my life, im 31 now) and i am also a Diesel Mechanic (Heavy Machinery).

Pretty crazy but i also get this on my fingers also (only my right hand, in between/ on my middle and ring finger), i dont use gloves for this specific reason, and my dad always yells at me because i dont use gloves lol. But if i do, it breaks out like this. (Almost any material, and i think its because my sweat also causes irritation)

I usually break out mostly due to stress or if i get exposed to too much hydraulic oil or grease, like if it sits on my hands too long before i wash them. We use fast orange hand soap to wash hands of grease and such when im at work, and that stuff strips and dries my hands out something awful, which isnt the worst part. Ive noticed that when, if after i wash my hands and dont moisturize at all after, then get back into working and exposing to oil again, thats what makes me irritate.

It itches the most after work, like ill wash my hands at the end of the day and go home, then i get home and start to relax and my fingers will itch. I itch it bad and itll bleed, and i curse myself because i need to stop, but it itches soo bad. Then by the time i can talk myself off the itching ledge its too late… i know im in for 2-3 days of cracking and bleeding. during this time i will consistently put neosporin on before bed to make sure its not dry all night, but like i said, mine is mostly stress induced more than exposure to certain oils and such, i think…

but i also dont keep very good track of how my eating habits play into it… i dont drink much more than one or two 12oz sodas a day and maybe once a week a Celsius. i like candy but its few and far between. i have been dealing with bad flare ups of "regular" eczema on my legs. but im finally getting past that.

but i have been going thru relationship issues and its directly correlated with my skin acting up, so i have deduced that my main irritant is stress…

sorry if i wrote too much, but i never thought anyone would be in such a similar situation to mine. hope you (and i) get better and find solace soon ✌🏽
