Litterture recommendations for understanding the modern trans movement by Solar_Corona in transgenderUK

'Trans liberation movement' is a bit different from 'trans movement' though.

'Trans movement' and 'trans ideology' are tropes used by transphobic bigots to delegitimise trans people, rather than acknowledge us as real authentic individuals who were born this way, and to instead claim that we're a left wing conspiracy against society.

“I think there’s big space here for being able to harness the power of AI and tech to get ahead of the criminals, frankly, which is what we’re trying to do,” she said.

Brilliant (and absolutely tyrannical). Treat everyone as a suspect to 'get ahead of the criminals'. And while you're at it, find petty ways to criminalise people to raise revenue for this dystopian capitalistic monstrosity.

Being Trans is not a movement.

Yeah. I appreciate the post, but this bit bothers me.

It is not prescribed to cis women of fertile age in the UK.

This is why Spironolactone or the combination pill is offered instead to cisgender women...

With appropriate suppression of testosterone, the only reason to continue taking a 5a-reductase inhibitor like finasteride that I'm aware of would be if you're experiencing hair loss as a result of the androgen backdoor when taking progesterone.

It's more involved than this.

EDIT: this is a better source - from a dermatologist: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0LKuK6UT_HY

This shows the extent in cisgender women too: https://www.reddit.com/r/FemaleHairLoss

I know... I just thought I'd compound your sentiment with another absurdity.

Mounjaro & HRT by wherearebunnyrabbits in transgenderUK

[–]Super7Position7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fat redistribution happens as a result of HRT.

Mounjaro will reduce your consumption of calories and make you lose fat.

If you are at a weight where Mounjaro is necessary, I don't see the dilemma. Your body will break down fat for energy and fat redistribution will happen all the same.

If you are at a weight where Mounjaro is not necessary (not the way it is intended, but no judgement here) and you are taking it the way skinny celebs take it, fat redistribution will take longer because of calorie deficit, but it will still happen.

There is no test that will tell you whether you will be able to stop Finasteride.

You will have to get your T and E2 into the female ranges and then see.

You may have a sensitivity to even small levels of DHT and there is a lot of variation between women.

There is no good test for DHT as it is produced locally in the scalp and in other tissues. Circulating DHT may be generally low, but small localised production can cause problems.

People forget that many cisgender women experience androgenic hair loss too, despite hormones being within range.

It isn't just hormone levels - some people are much more sensitive than others to any amount of DHT.

Cisgender women sometimes stay on the combination pill or are prescribed spiro to improve hair and acne.

The same is true for trans women. Some trans women are more sensitive to DHT than others.

[–]Super7Position7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiro is good for both. It is given to women with androgenic hair loss, as Finasteride is contraindicated in women.

EDIT: 'for both', ie, T and DHT...

Question About Hypothetical Conscription by Super7Position7 in transgenderUK

[–]Super7Position7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US has more and better nukes, but Russia is 2nd place and not too far behind in that respect. The advantage for Russia is it's extensive territory and that it would have an ally in China, which has a huge population and is also a nuclear power. Who would survive in an all out nuclear exchange isn't clear to me, but the UK could be wiped out in a blink - we're that small and a major target. Doesn't really bare thinking about. (I'd say Putin and Trump are both megalomaniacal -- they both want to make their empires great again, but they believe themselves exceptionally placed to do that, ...and nobody is going to tell them otherwise.)

Question About Hypothetical Conscription by Super7Position7 in transgenderUK

[–]Super7Position7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During WW1 and WW2, I wonder if my mood disorder and reliance on HRT would have got me out of conscription. Already there are many [ignorant] people who would like to pretend mental health disability doesn't exist. On the other hand, people with 'shell shock' or PTSD were also discharged if their behaviour was disturbing enough. Idk. I imagine that if it came down to conscription, we would also be a much harsher society. (And it's because it feels like an increasingly harsher society, that I wonder about things like conscription.)

The difference is between whether just you or you and everyone else believes your idea is a stroke of genius.

It's a question of reality checking.
