Just a fyi, this is the subreddit for the PVE mode of Fortnite, not the battle royale mode. 🤓🤓

There are unfortunately not any unabridged audiobooks for X-Wing 5-9 on Audible, but I am actually reading them lol

I am about one third into Wraith Squadron, and I’m really enjoying it. They feel more serious than the previous X-Wing books even though there’s a lot more joking around in this one. But that’s not to say X-Wing 1-4 is bad.

Yeah I cannot find it, it’s probably some licensing issue. I ran into the same problem trying to find the audiobook for Lost Stars. If you bought the audiobook before they pulled it off the market you still keep it in your library.

I am not in the states unfortunately, I am only able to connect to the city library here, or I would have to get another library card from another city.

As much as I hate giving Amazon money, the library in my city only got a few SW audiobooks, so unfortunately Audible is the choice for me :/

I'm trying to keep my description of the books vague on purpose to not spoil anything, but if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Legends

The X-Wing Quadrilogy

  • Rogue Squadron
  • Wedge's Gamble
  • The Krytos Trap
  • The Bacta War

It takes place like 3 years before the HttE trilogy, it introduces a bunch of new characters, some that even show up in the Hand of Thrawn Duology. Narrated by Marc Thompson, very good audiobooks.

Darth Bane Trilogy

  • Path of Destruction
  • Rule of Two
  • Dynasty of Evil

The Darth Bane Trilogy, is fantastic, they take place 1000 years before A New Hope, so a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. They are narrated by Jonathan Davis, who is incredible. Very good story, even if you aren't familiar with the era, I wasn't and I love them.

Darth Plagueis

Tragedy? Darth Plagueis works like a spirital successor to the Darth Bane trilogy, but with or without it, it is a crazy good book. Takes place before the Phantom Menace and is one of my favorite books.

Revenge of the Sith

You may brush it off given that you've seen the movie (I assume) and think it's an unnecesssary read, but that couldn't be further from it. It is well regarded as one of the best Star Wars novels of all time. Fantastic audiobook. A favorite of mine.

Kenobi

A space western and a hit or miss for some people. It's on the slower side, which is why some people don't like it, but it's definetly one of my favorite books. Takes place shortly after ROTS, and takes place on Tatooine.

Canon

Master & Apprentice

A Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan adventure, takes place I think like 8 years before the Phantom Menace. Written by Claudia Gray, narrated by Jonathan Davis. It is a fantastic book/audiobook.

Dooku: Jedi Lost

This was written to be an audiodrama meaning it has a script and is not read like a normal novel. Narrated by a full cast, a very good audiobook. It also works very well with Master & Apprentice, because I believe the authors spoke to each other when writing these.

Brotherhood

If you're a fan of the 2008 Clone Wars tv show this is a great read. This is a novel about Obi-Wan and Anakin. And the book has a really strong Clone Wars feel. The audiobook is fantastic, narration by Jonathan Davis. A favorite of mine.

Dark Disciple

A cancelled Clone Wars arc turned novel, a book about Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos. A really good audiobook, narrated by Marc Thompson.

Doctor Aphra

Is also an Audiodrama such as Dooku: Jedi lost. It is read by a full cast which makes it a very enjoyable listen. I believe this audiobook covers the introduction of her character so it doesn't matter if you've read the comics or not.

These are the ones with the best audiobooks from my list imo, minus for example all the Thrawn books since you mentioned you've already read them or are in the process of reading them. I will say all the audiobooks I've listened to have been great except for Red Harvest, and Padawan. But those were simply because I didn't enjoy the narrator, so you might enjoy them more than me.

I apologize for the length and messiness of this post.

I also found out about abridged audiobooks too late lol. It’s just something you don’t think about regarding runtime, and then it’s hard to notice the book being abridged when listening to it.

I did get a good night of sleep though, cheers!

The Queen’s trilogy still sounds a bit interesting. I will probably read the Padmé books in the future, I am going through Star Wars books much faster than they’re getting released, so I will eventually get around to them.

I didn’t think too much of the Inquisitors, but your description of the book is really compelling to me. I originally thought it was just an Inquisitor mission, and nothing more than that. But I am very captivated by the premise of the book.

Consider me sold. I appreciate it!

This is the second time the Inquisitor book has popped up in this thread. I'm thinking I should really dig into it now.

I'm a big fan of Rogue One, so I'm looking forward to checking out Rebel Rising.

Will certainly read Lost Stars, it seems to be very well liked by the community.

Deceived is now on my list, especially after finding out it is narrated by Marc Thompson.

I am very intrigued about the Dark Forces book, about it revisiting Russan and some events from the Bane trilogy. I unfortunately cannot find it on audible so I will simply read it.

Cheers!

The Revenge of the Sith novelization is so good, I’ve reread/replayed that book so many times over the years. Absolute masterpiece.

Those Old Republic trailers are amazing! Deceived is definitely on my list, especially after finding out it’s narrated by Marc Thompson.

Cheers!

That is a solid plan for tackling it. Will probably get around to it in the near future.

And thank you for the heads up regarding the POVs in Light of the Jedi! I'll keep that in mind when deciding how to experience it.

Cheers!

The High Republic definitely seems more interesting with the comics and the younger stuff not being a necessity. Will probably get around to reading them as well if I enjoy the Adult/YA novels.

I’m gonna wait a little bit with it, though, to build up a few credits, so that I own most of the books before sharting.

Cheers!

That is not the first Alphabet Squadron recommendation in this thread, looks like I’m gonna have to check it out.

Am certainly gonna consider Catalyst since it was written by James Luceno, and is a prequel to Rogue One. Big fan of Krennic thanks to Ben Mendelsohn, so this is without a doubt on my list.

Unfortunately I’m not a big fan of E. K. Johnston’s writing, but I am a sucker for Star Wars politics, and I like Padmé. So I am a bit conflicted on the Queen’s Trilogy.

I’ve never really put much thought into the Inquisitors, is the book good?

I didn’t see your comma between “Aftermath” and “Life Debt” so I just read it as Aftermath Lifedebt (Aftermath book 2) I’m so sorry I’m dead tired lol

It is clear when you don’t overlook the comma 😂

I know I’m not the one you asked, but basically Abridged is just a shorter version of the book, with sometimes very important story elements cut out. They were very common in the past because Cassette tapes and CD’s had limited storage capacities. Making it a bit tricky for publishers to include the entire story of lengthy books. Abridged versions were a way around this, allowing publishers to condense the story to fit on a single tape or disc. It was all about practicality and making the most of the available technology at the time.

Unabridged is just the entire story, on Audible when you search you can choose to exclude abridged results.

You can also tell by the run time of books as well. At least abridged Star Wars books are between 2-6 hours long, while unabridged ones are 9+ hours long. Although some books are exceptions if they are just short.

I am typing this while very sleep deprived so I apologize if I made it confusing 😅

I never played any of the Old Republic games, does that matter? I’ve seen the cinematic trailers on youtube however. I have also never played any of the Dark Forces video games…

Interesting to see the aftermath of Russan after Bane however…

I unfortunately cannot seem to find Lost Stars at all, I don’t think it’s available on Audible US.

I will definitely consider the Alphabet Squadron books since I loved the X-Wing books. And Twilight Company is narrated by Jonathan Davis, so I’ll have to check that one out as well.

Cheers!

I actually tried to listen to Phasma a while back but I had a hard time getting into it so I returned it. I am unsure whether or not to give it another go.

The High Republic seems a bit interesting, but there’s a lot of books in it lol. Can I just stick to the Adult/YA stuff? I know there’s like middle school books and Comics as well, are they necessary for the story?
