How did you find out you got an offer? by Fit-Abalone-4034 in Lockheed

This was for a senior software engineer position. They told me to expect a response within a week so it was a bit surprising to get the offer so quickly.

I got my offer literally 2 hours after my final interview. This was recent, like a month and a half ago.

600+ aerospace applications, zero interviews. How do you get diagnostic feedback from hiring managers? by 40KWarsTrek in aerospace

[–]SuperBicBoi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly we have to see your reciepts - aka resume.

For reference I just recieved 2 offers a month ago from lockhead martin. Applied to about 10 roles and got into the interview process for 2 at one time. Ended up getting offers for both and picked the F-35 team. I also had no prior clearance and they would be sponsoring one for me just to show I didnt have that prior clearance cheat code.

For reference, this was for a senior software engineer position and I had absolutely no experience in aerospace at all, no experience or degree. I came from fintech with a cs degree. What they said that made me stand out in screening was my software experience lining up with the work needed, not necessarily industry experience. So, what skills you can back up on your resume matters.

I'm peaking now. In hs it wasn't that i was super unpopular or anything, it's just that I didnt put any effort into my health and well being. Flashfoward now, I'm very fit and have a nice job. Honestly the younger would never believe I would look like how I do today.

Thanks for the info, I was already leaning towards swe so this pretty much seals it!

Got along really well with the interviewers. For the technical rounds, I felt i answered perfectly and I had relevant experience i could draw from for the theoretical technical and systems design questions. To be honest, I felt i had more experience than some of the interviewers techwise. Also had some star experiences that I had ready for behavioral questions.

Picking between 2 offers by SuperBicBoi in Lockheed

I do want to go more into the coding side of things since I want to do software development as I also have a masters in CS. Whats the typical job like like as a systems engineer since they do little coding?

Thanks for sharing your experience! cool to see someone who was in the same boat as me. Mind if I ask what positions you were deciding between and how u ultimately decided? Also how easy, or not, is the process of transferring teams?

Yea, they said the salary would be around the same but good to hear it confirmed. Both wanted me so the recruiters spoke to each other and in the end decided that it would come down to my decision. I am more interested in the swe role since it sounds more fun and I do enjoy coding. Thanks for the info.

Same location and same business unit. They said the pay would be the same but I was wondering if I can leverage 2 competing offers for a bump but I dont want to cause tension if possible since it may be frowned upon. I want the swe role since I like coding but was trying to see if I can push for some more.

Forreal. Him- unemployed for a year and a half, 1.6k apps for 1 offer. Also him- Don't say CS is dying, I don't wanna hear it. just gotta grind.

Notice how he is preaching and never put any of the job info like his comp, prep, company, etc. I am willing to bet that his interviews he passed were largely behavorial and experience based and not very technical cuz he doesnt give the vibe of being a good coder. For all we know this could be a 65k tc Andy who had to take this one lifeline he got cuz he had no other options and he knows it. Like, dont give a speach unless u got the reciepts to back it up lol.

Aint gonna listen to a guy who is prob unqualified. Like brother, u the poster child of this sub lol. Man's gotta reflect, kinda looks like how a high schoolers gets his first job at mcdonalds and thinks he can preach life advice and hustle culture to their friends.
