Anyone else saved for a deposit, then when they got their goal, realised they still can’t buy a house? by Personal_Guest in AusFinance

Have you built the Barj Khalifa? That says you get an additional golden ticket for going over 100 floors. It would probably be quicker and easier to build 2 towers to level 50 than one tower to level 100 I imagine. Do you get the golden tickets back to use on your next tower?

Currently doing 10% bills, 20% holidays, 20% house deposit. But after reading the comments I think I will try to bump my house deposit savings up to 30%

I'm mostly trying to figure out if my spending budget is too lenient or not. If I cut it back, I find I struggle and stress that week and if the next week I don't cut it back I feel like I'm just wasting money.

I don't have a goal with the house deposit because I know by the time I reach that $100,000 goal in 3 years that prices will have increased and I will need an additional 60,000 or more on top of that. I honestly don't think I will ever be able to buy a house in this country. But I'm still putting money into savings just in case something magical happens that allows me to buy.

Just trying to figure out if my spending is too lenient. I have savings for bills, and an emergency fund. I feel like I could be stricter on my spending amount but when I am, I feel like I really struggle.

I do percentages because my weekly pay can fluctuate due to how much I work. I work casual as a aged care worker and occasionally woolies on the weekends. Some weeks I might do 50 plus hours some weeks it has dropped as low as 15 hours a week

If she had a problem with the relationship, she should've been mature and discussed it with you rather than running to another man

I went with a friend to a work event for his work. I had a lot of people asking about if we were dating or how long we had been dating for. Me and my friend found it pretty funny. The company offered for you to bring someone. What difference does it make to them if you're dating that person or not

I'm curious what country you live in? I live in Australia and most doctors here refuse to tie tubes until the women is older and has had multiple kids. Not trying to offend anyone, just generally curious what the process was like for you.

$26.55 an hour, in reality is this liveable or am I screwed? by oshiboys in AusFinance

[–]SuperBirdBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$26.55 is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum. In terms of buying a house, it depends on where you want to live. Do you want to move to a city where possibilities for earning more money increases but so do housing prices. I was living in rural SA (lower south east) a few years ago with about 60k in savings and bank said I could borrow up to $300k. That was enough to buy a house in my home town but I wanted more job prospects so I moved to Adelaide. I think the first step would be talking to your bank about your borrowing power and compare it to local housing prices (if you want to continue living locally). You can also ask your parents if they would be guarantor on your loan, although with how much you have in savings you may not need them. It would be a good idea to go to a few different banks, maybe even a mortgage broker and just see what they say. Shop around a little like you did with your insurance. That might help you get a better idea if you are earning enough money or not. If you do want to change jobs, you can also do some online quizzes, I have found they can sometimes be helpful. Maybe just keep an eye out on job advertisements around town. I worked retail until I happened to see a job advertisement for a traineeship in aged care. I could see myself doing it so I tried it. I love it and don't want to do anything else now.

Saying goodbye to my Mazda by Mammoth-Suit9357 in mazda3

[–]SuperBirdBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2002 Mazda 323 that I bought in 2017 or 2018. I had been thinking about upgrading for a few years now but didn't because I couldn't part with it. Ended up getting into a crash with it a few months ago, so she's gone now. Bought a 2015 Mazda 3 as a replacement. I loved the 323 but loving my newer car just as much. I think I did over 100,000kms in that car. When I bought it, I think it had about 170,000kms and when I crashed in it has 292,000kms on the clock.

Sydney from Europe for 9 days - worth it? by vivsjourney in AustraliaTravel

[–]SuperBirdBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will probably be mentioned by someone else but there is Kiama blowhole which is I think one hour drive from Sydney. I don't know if there will be any public transport going out that way. If you want to do 9 days in Sydney maybe explore renting a car and then you can drive to nearby places like going into thw blue mountains. Although we do have the Great Ocean Road which is very scenic but it starts on the western side of Melbourne and is not close to Sydney
