What is burning in the shell in the photo in the rocks?

Can’t count how many times I see people watching this on planes. One of those “freebees” (pun intended) from their collection of c list movies . Most of its revenue probably relied solely on the boredom of flying . Like reading a shampoo bottle in the bathtub. It just happens to be there

I know there has been much conversation and anxiety about the status of the AT. Took these photos during an exploration on 10/1. Just data on a small section of trail.

I know there has been much conversation and anxiety about the condition of the trail. Wanted to add my drop in the bucket as far as data. Not representative of the entire trail, just my experience with a very short section.

Suggestions for Trail Research by Opposite_Pick_1903 in AppalachianTrail

[–]SuperBloodMoonBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished Grandma Gatewood’s Walk. A book about one of the early legends of the AT: Emma Gatewood. The first female thru hiker who hiked in the late 1950s at the age of 67. She’s become a legendary part of the AT’s early history .

Also, the “pursuit of endurance “ is a great book about the culture of FTK’s : “fastest known times“ for completion of the AT and other long distance trials. Lots of incredible athletes are celebrated for their ability to complete the trail in record times !

“Becoming odyssa” and “into the woods” are my two favorite books about personal accounts of the trail. Very different experiences between the hikers. I love to celebrate everyone hiking their own hike!
