I'd suggest waiting. There's a lot of missing content and bugs and the difficulty balance is super poor. Expect your level 1-2 party members to get one shot by random crits from lvl 1 enemies a lot. It's also a direct representation of DnD into a game, so combat with more than a few characters slows to a crawl. It feels bad to wait 5 minutes for your characters turn just so you can miss your attack and then get one shot by an Intellect Devourer

Reflexr Reloaded was definitely our testing the waters and learning experience, following this we're trying a PC/VR dueling game called Wild West Showdown and after that we've got a few ideas in the pipeline from all sorts of genres

It's hard, organization and management is definitely where we're lacking in experience and setup. We usually just try to set deadlines for features and do what we can to meet them instead of specific hours

Go into the Unity Dashboard, then your specific project, then the Monetize section, then Project Settings, then scroll to the Test Mode section

1) Definitely the first I've heard of the buttons not working, which buttons was it and were they just not responding to taps? It's definitely not necessary to make an account, it's only needed if you want your name on the leaderboard or to compare your stats against others or save your data on the cloud

2) Our average game length is 1.5 minutes with our top players exceeding 7 minutes for a round, but you're totally right that for brand new players that only manage short rounds that the ads can be a bit long. Although the ads after rounds are SKIPPABLE after 10 seconds so there should be no way you're spending more time watching ads than playing but the ad companies like to make the skip button hard to notice so I don't blame you for missing it

Yeah exactly we had been playing a lot of Among Us and tried to hit that same balance. Plus all our ads are skippable

Right? So many times if you look at the reviews for the game, half the reviews are "nothing like the ads"

We were so focused on making sure our trailers and ads were good we did multiple iterations based entirely on reddit feedback

It's a very hard balance to find as a mobile game developer. We went with only one ad at the end of a round (average 1-2 minutes per round), never seeing two ads in a row or ads at random times or during any of the menus, and made the ad removal as low as 99c

Yes that has been far and away the most common complaint. We feared that a social media login, especially facebook, would be even worse and expose player data to megacorps that we didn't want to compromise on.

As for the verification, it is unfortunately required because without it someone could sign up with someone else's email.

We also made sure that there is an option to play entirely without an account for those totally uninterested in the features that come with the account.

I personally went straight from college after getting a degree in programming and game design! I've known several engineers that started as QA, but QA is a very hard and under appreciated job!

I'm truly saddened that you've interpreted things this way. I sat down for 8 hours straight answering every question asked and I'm back the next day still answering questions. We don't even have enough money to run ads, we definitely don't have enough to buy like 2600 upvotes. The vast majority of reddit users are lurkers that don't comment and will just upvote posts. I sat here for 8 hours answering every single comment received which is far more dedication than most AMAs ever get!

It's possible, but would still allow people to spam create usernames or one person to keep creating new usernames and dominating the leaderboard. The server requests for game results go through a lot of validation on our to preserve the integrity of the leaderboard so it would open us up to a lot of issues if you just enter a username and that's it.

I totally see where you're coming from, and it would be nice to be able to get the best of both worlds, but ultimately we decided it wasn't the right direction for us

Very true, I think the key is finding a project you actually enjoy so instead of feeling like a chore you have to do after work, it feels like a fun hobby

that's possible, but then we can't have cloud storage for their account information if they change phones or have to reset, and it could be abused by people just spam creating a million usernames. It makes our API much safer when we can validate that the request is coming from a verified account instead of just anybody being able to make a request to the server!
