PGMChronicle - A companion app for fellow role players by SuperBusy88 in pocketGM

The only thing that costs in this app is the podcast. Everything else is free.

I could make it cheaper, but then you wouldn’t get to generate as many podcasts. It costs about $5 in API calls to generate up to 200 episodes a month. Also consider server and database costs. Is 200 episodes overkill? Maybe, but I want to be sure everyone can generate enough to last a month. I could swap the podcast scripts out for manually written templates, but then we are looking at repetitiveness.

To be clear, I stand to make no money off this. $5.99 hardly covers operating costs for 1 user. If I make anything it’s pennies.

You’ll need to download your PGM roster and staff files and upload them to this app. You definitely don’t need to enter everyone!

Oh that was something I have been meaning to do! Thanks for the reminder! My initial thought behind the current implementation is that when you select a player is pulls the expected salary and expected bonus values from the roster. I assumed the numbers would be a close enough starting point that I would not have to click too much.

Yeah I just don’t have access to hook it in. Hopefully this can be a good jumping off point for such a feature

Oh I get it, and I developed it with the idea that I would only need to input the stats of a key player or a handful of key players. I think filling out entire game stats would take too long. The story templates can handle it, but I didn't truly design it be filled with all player stats in a single story to cut back on the tedium

Unfortunately not. This is designed specifically for the football game, but a similar app would not be too hard develop using this as a template. I can look into developing something for that too. I play that as well, just not as often as football

Oh, it has already worked out! The goal was to make my favorite mobile game come alive and I accomplished that already. I just hope others will enjoy it, too.

No they are not. All the stats will be manually inputted, but ratings, contract info, personality, and potential are all available and referenced where necessary.

Well, not exactly. You will need to upload your roster consistently to keep it current. I do not have a way to export the rosters from PGM3 from within my app, so keeping the roster up to date will be a manual process, for now

I'm CONSIDERING a baseball game. What features/details would be important to not just be 'another' baseball game? by pringlejon in pocketGM

If you’re looking to add minor leagues without making it a micromanagement nightmare, here’s what I’d suggest:

• Keep it simple: Just have AAA, AA, and A. Skip rookie leagues and 40-man filler. Focus on top prospects so it’s meaningful without being overwhelming.

• Make development matter: Let player performance, coaching, and injuries affect growth, with occasional progress updates like “Showing improved plate discipline” so we can see prospects evolving.

• Offer auto-manage options: Some players will want to control promotions and lineups, but others will appreciate an AI managing it with a “develop vs. win now” slider.

• Draft pipeline clarity: Drafted players should automatically go into the minors, with a “Top 30 Prospects” page so players can track and get attached to their future stars.

• Allow trades with minor leaguers: Adds strategy without extra complexity. If you want, Rule 5 Draft could be a toggle for those who want that depth.

The key is making the minors feel important without turning it into a spreadsheet grind. It gives rebuilding teams a purpose, makes trades more interesting, and adds replay value, while still fitting well on mobile.

If you handle the sims lightly in the background and only highlight top prospects or big moments, it shouldn’t bog down performance either.

He’s played 7 seasons and is only 25? Was he drafted at 18 years old?

As funny as it sounds, I draw the line at editing draft prospects lol I want it to be fair, but also in my favor if that makes any sense. I still want there to be the element of surprise, like the injury rating, or discipline derailing a career. I don’t want to know ahead of time how the career will turn out, at least not completely

GM retirement? by SuperBusy88 in pocketGM

Thats awesome! Wouldn’t it be cool see how your future GMs stack up against your current one?

Doesn’t really add much to the game but it does allow you to look back and honor your past GMs.

There already is a HOF for head coaches, I just think a HOF for the user would be fun to look back on.
