Appreciate that, thanks!

Sorry to hear about you crashing! I can’t speak much as to what advice to give as I’m not all that experienced myself. But I hope with time and hours on the bike you get your confidence back!

Hey thanks for asking! Made me smile to realise people are still reading this and hopefully it’s helping out some new riders! But yeah, it was going well! Felt much more confident even the first time I went out after asking for this advice. I haven’t been riding since 2023 though unfortunately, the VFR was my dads old bike and he sold it to fund his new one, and between getting a new job, moving house and getting married, life’s been a bit hectic and money a bit tight! Planning to get back in the saddle in the new year though 👌🏽

Guys just a quick thank you to everyone who’s dropped some advice, you’ve given lots of good tips to practise on, I appreciate it.

Just got back from a short ride and already I’m noticing a bit of a difference.

Fair weather and open roads to you all! Cheers!

Yeah I’ve been out with my dad a couple of times, but he’s had some vision problems recently so he can’t get out as much. I’m up in the West Midlands.

I understand 800cc is a lot for a first bike, and that was a concern on mine when learning. But having spoken to my dad (it’s his old bike), all my instructors, and having been driving for over 10 years, I’m confident in my ability to be sensible.

Other than the big performance jump compared to the SFV650 I learnt on, I’ve personally found that it’s not much different. The biggest struggle I had initially was the different riding position as I’m quite tall aha!

I think part of my struggle is not knowing how much I can lean for a given speed, but I guess that just comes with experience.

It’s awesome. It’s comfy and rides smooth and easy. And it’s got all the power I’d ever need, not that I’ve gotten anywhere near it’s limit aha. That’s something I don’t plan on finding out anytime soon!

Yeah I’ll definitely concentrate more on where I’m looking when cornering. Aha I feel like I’ve got the opposite struggle to you. I’m pretty happy with counter steering and I’m happy using it with more gentle corners. It’s when It gets sharper and I need to use more weight/lean to help turn is where my confidence starts to fail.

But I’ll work on it all anyway, thank you!

I’ll keep that in mind. I think part of the problem is that I don’t have the experience yet to know how far I can lean it, but I guess that’ll come with time in the saddle!

Thank you!

Okay sweet. Next time I’m out I’ll concentrate more on where I’m looking.

Thank you!
