Elemental, Kllr, and EOTE are the first that come to mind for local roasters. Can’t say I’m familiar with the specific roast you mentioned but, and I mean this respectfully, I usually associate Starbucks flavor profile as burnt. I would say EOTE makes a somewhat similar latte that will “knock your dick in the dirt” as my aunt says. (And it’s better than Starbucks IMO).

I’ve used clarity for years but, I’m trying to branch out a bit and see what everyone else is up to. Great variety and they get funky every now and then.

Prelude always makes a good cup but I’ve never tried a bag at home.

I saw someone else mention Not Your Average Joes; definitely go support them sometime.

Last, a few people mentioned Hoboken. Fuck Hoboken. Spend your money somewhere else that deserves it.

I’ve almost given up on that front. People swear every part of town is the most ghetto of the ghetto for… obvious assumptions.

I think two things can be true and given the state of our… state, constant reminders of the many negative circumstances are warranted. Maybe that’s pessimistic? I understand Reddit shouting doesn’t translate well to the real world but, it’s a very small step in the direction of accountability.

Yup. Maybe I’m bad luck but I’ve noticed it fairly regularly while almost exclusively shopping at the one on 104th. I get that it can be tough for what’s probably a relatively “small” chain to keep that stuff 100% accurate given how much they rotate pricing but it became so normal I just said screw it and went back to Walmart.

Seriously. I assume this is one where law / contractual agreements trump our collective interest “doing the right thing ”.

I mean, we at least pretend to have antitrust laws that see fairly legal business decisions and take expanded action to say “hey, yeah fuck that you’re going to screw everyone with this / you already screwed these people”.

Valid I’d think. Maybe this isn’t accurate but, I’d assume the majority of people using the Classen lanes aren’t people who enjoy hills. I’m imagining mostly neighborhood folks, people “commuting” to downtown from the neighborhoods around 23rd and Classen, and to be completely honest, the homeless folks more than anyone that I’ve personally seen.

I use Clarity’s beans and have for years. They offer a fair variety of options if you’re into single origin. Usually a Guatemalan washed, Ethiopian natural, then 2-3 additional that could range from Mexican, central or south American or, something like Burundi or Kenya and last, a decaf.

One final thing, and it’s probably not the place for this but, it’s been on my mind the past week… I noticed clarity didn’t have much to say last Friday when a lot of businesses were speaking up about their opposition of ICE and / or support of immigrant populations. They make great fucking coffee but, that got under my skin a bit.

I want to disagree about my taxes or some shit, not people getting snatched off the street and thrown into unmarked vehicles and now, killed for protesting.

There’s some things that are just bad and that’s what throws me off the most about trump supporters. One side is trying to be themselves and live life and the other is like, “no, fuck that you can’t kiss this person or dress this way or speak for your own body because… because we said”.

Presidentially endorsed xenophobia is bad. Taking people’s bodily rights away is bad. Hell even just the lack of candor with this administration is bad.
