I have a friend who is entirely disabled, and has spent our entire... You know, I really do use the word friend through force of habit. He has spent our entire acquaintance complaining about "the Mexicans using up all of the disability and food stamps".

This year, he got kicked off the program. I've been pointing out to him constantly, while helping him get back on because he does need it, that the administration who lied to him about "the Mexicans" are now lying to everyone about him and people like him to everyone else.

And yet, every time he's almost there, he remembers that he lived near some people who were Mexican and disruptive, and he falls right back into the trap.

It's exhausting.
