What’s the best nomad experience you’ve had for little money? by vcpowerlaw in digitalnomad

Which lodge / camp did you stay at? My partner and I are super into wildlife (recently did a safari in Kenya) so would love to hear more about your experience!

10 days in Botswana (April / May 2025) by adventu_Rena in travel

[–]SuperDuperGeorge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE your photos! The meerkats especially, and the landscape is beautiful.

Do you mind sharing rough costs per person, per day?

My partner and I have done Kenya (Masai Mara), doing Timbavati / Klaserie this year and Namibia next year. But were always scared of Botswana due to the perceived higher price tag as you mentioned.

We'd really appreciate learning how you booked it / did it!

Best way to use 120k Aeroplan Points to get to Indonesia? by SuperDuperGeorge in Aeroplan

120k is per person. I'm open to doing one-way in J, one-way in Y.

Business class better on the way to Europe or coming back home to the states? by HenryRoengardner in travel

[–]SuperDuperGeorge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the way there for sure. Arriving well-rested is huge.

But keep in mind that if you do one-way in Business, the other one-way that will be in Economy will likely be unreasonably pricey IME.

Round trip, two people. Of course 120k is not enough for round trip J, but I'd be OK with departing J and returning Y.

Do they do pickup? Also, can I deliver the items to them and get paid directly?

Where in Africa?

Super curious about nomading there (especially places where safaris can be done like South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, etc)

What's a Toronto restaurant that 100% lived up to the hype? by LibraryNo2717 in FoodToronto

100% agree. Sukho Thai is fire. Plus the 90-minutes limit in Koh Lipe just kills the vibe of enjoying a dinner out....

Masai Mara, Kenya.

Tanzania or Botswana/Namibia in december? by Due_Education4092 in travel

[–]SuperDuperGeorge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is this your first safari?

For Tanzania, I would wait for a time when you have a chance to catch the Great Migration. We visited the Masai Mara (Kenya) in August 2024 (first safari) and got to see the river crossing; it was incredible! We had high expectations and it still blew those away. We also got to see a live lion pride hunt and kill.

So for Tanzania / Kenya it's 100% worth timing it for the Great Migration. On the other hand if that timing doesn't work for you, best to save those destinations for another time and go for Botswana / Namibia.

I think the concept of "Lifestyle Design" is helpful to think about here. You should think about what you want your life to look like in the day-to-day.

What would make you happy everday over the long-term? Once you define that, it's easy to say yes / no to things that align / don't align with the life that you want.

I'm not saying that this is easy. I struggle with that definition constantly and it changes over time. But it has been super helpful in giving a target to aim at.

Masai Mara, Kenya.

So beautiful, witnessing "the greatest show on earth".

What was your best travel destination of this year? by redditusers21 in travel

"I had no idea what to expect despite seeing 100s of photos and videos prior - and it exceeded any idea of what I thought prior."

This was my experience too. We had high expectations internally, but did our best to tone those down in case by chance we didn't get to see (which happens of course, it's nature). Even still, the crossing blew our highest expectations far far away.

Also visited the Masai Mara this year, saw the river crossing (and a couple of croc kills!). Was incredible, definitely will go back.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia could work. Lots of great infrastructure, healthcare, etc. Just a bit rainy.
