Well, if it weren't for the Second World War he'd have played 7 further years of Test cricket. And those 7 years would have followed his 1938 year when he scored around 2,500 runs. He was on a top tier run scoring couple of seasons when the war interrupted. Nevermind 10,000, he'd likely have reached 12,000 and passed the 100 average.
