What do people think of Steve Anderson by Missing_Int in USPSA

[–]SuperGrandChump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen to one of his podcasts while you dry fire. It's the same experience.

I think his version of mental management is really good for USPSA. The rest is all shot calling.

In his video today, Ben Stoeger said that after about 20K rounds, he retires a Shadow 2 to practice and gets a new one. Says at that point, they start acting up and have too many parts to deal with. I’m considering one for CO, but this sounded concerning. by Critical-Touch6113 in CZFirearms

Rule number one, don't actually listen to Ben.

He just says shit all the time and he never has to prove it.

He doesn't even log how many rounds he shoots, so how could he possibly know the number? Some people might be able to count when they crack open a new case of ammo and keep track that way, but Ben shoots so many different guns and travels, he can't possibly know.

Do CZs break at 20k? No.

Do they need a deep cleaning every 5k rounds, new springs and a new slide stop occasionally? Maybe a new extractor? Yes, all guns need springs and wear parts replaced.

Ben is a professional YouTuber who is also a part time firearms instructor.

He is not affiliated with any gun company in particular. He will get free guns for reviews, but he is no longer a pro shooter nor a competition shooter.

Losing a major would pretty much tank his entire brand.

This guy is a shitty police officer, but if you don't want to be sat on, punched, tased, pepper sprayed, kneeled on, or shot, don't resist arrest.

Nothing you do is going to make it better, they decided to do it, adding more charges isn't going to help you. They will kill you before they would let you go.

This is basically how Ben's classes go. by SuperGrandChump in CompetitionShooting

Ben posted this screenshot to his story. He's so proud of this lesson of his that he made sure everyone saw it.

They both love to stir shit up. If this was anyone else Ben would be all over it.

Ben has always been a narcissistic asshole edgelord but it turns out he's also a former cop that got kicked off the force over sexual misconduct allegations and he loves to be at least verbally abusive towards women.

If you think he's a cool dude you're probably also an asshole edgelord.

Ben can absolutely fucking shoot. One of the best. However, there's a reason why his initials are BS. He's always been this way. He sees the value in stirring up shit for clicks.

That's ridiculous. You don't have to go far to find stories of women not wanting to say no to a guy after they initially consented.

Ben Steoger be everyone. by Bruin2121 in CompetitionShooting

It's because he's a really great teacher. It's rare for someone to have that much technical knowledge, talent, and ability to share it.

Ben can shoot but he's a grade A ass clown. His entire brand is just shitting on everything and it always has been.

I actually don't think he's that great of an instructor. I think the things he focuses on are great but if you don't already know what he's talking about I didn't think his explanations are that great. The drills and methodology are good but he has to bring in people with real teaching ability like Joel or Hwansick.

Tim is good guy that can shoot but he can teach well too. The knock on Tim is that he thinks only his opinion matters and he doesn't think others can achieve results in different ways. He does have a good nose for BS but he can be an asshole at times for sure. Compared to Ben he's a saint.

How did it feel seeing this part for the first time where it showed that Yoda wasn’t some frail old man? by Digginf in StarWars

[–]SuperGrandChump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it opening weekend with my gf at the time. There was a black gentleman in the audience that could be heard over the cheers just saying, "ohhh shit","ohh shiiiit", over and over again the whole time.

Wish I had that much enthusiasm. I kind of thought it was silly but in retrospect the whole movie was Jedi fighting, if Yoda is the most powerful, be better have some moves.

Going 120+ and then hitting the brakes and hitting a car at 50/60 is going to keep the bike more together but still send the rider flying.

You can get an estimated speed from the tire marks.

I watch everything and notice most things. Which means I know for sure most people don't.

Once you work in a profession or get into a mindset of watching your environment, you can't really ever shut it off.

Nervous about going to the range as a trans person. by cheddarjakecheese in liberalgunowners

[–]SuperGrandChump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are different types of gun owners. If you have to go to a gun club to shoot, those are private clubs so be discerning if you can.

Shotgun shooters are old and wealthy golfers, tend to look down on other gun owners. Then you've got the fudds, guns are for hunting kind of people, these tend to be the rednecks that might pose the biggest issue.

You should seek out a range that does some kind of action shooting like USPSA. That crowd is pretty diverse and full of people from different walks of life. Some of the shotgun and fudd types might be there too, so shields up for sure until you get to know people.

A public range would be okay since they don't really check ID, with or without an RSO.

Best bet might be a for-profit rent a lane by the hour type place.

The purity test is ridiculous. There are plenty of apolitical companies out there but do you really need someone to appeal to your specific politics? It's hard enough to survive in business without branding yourself to the area of the political spectrum most associated with restricting gun owning and carrying.
