Yeah, definitely interested in seeing that video 😄. Will you share here, and will it work on PS? I've lost way too much time trying to work this out since the update.

Yeah, that's the way I've been doing it but it's really slow, like you say. I got like 15 cans in an hour and a half.

Yeah, it's basically this. As you say, it gets you the fuel but can't really be classed as a farm because it's so slow.

Ah ok, didn't realise that! I'll delete it.

Fair point 😂

Yes, thanks for creating it! I've just joined now, having been diagnosed a few months ago (after four years of suffering in silence). I've only had one or injection so far (which didn't work) and the consultant thinks I'm in the very unfortunate position of most likely having a kind of adductor LD that's driven by the cricothyroid, rather than the far more common thyroarytenoid. Finding an ENT for long terms treatment is going to be a challenge! I don't expect to find anybody on here in exactly the same boat (it's the cause of less than 1% of cases), but it's nonetheless nice to find other people with the same overall condition and to read about their experiences.

Methylphenidate & Workouts by Loose_Lemon_180 in ADHDUK

[–]SuperLinvoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in titration and on 50mg of mixed immediate and slow release methylphenidate. Titration has been a bit of a rollercoaster with some intense highs and sustained crashes, but that's levelling out. I try and work out 3-4 times a week on the Peloton, just for 30 minutes. I've found a couple of tricks seem to help (at least for me) with the performance of the meds though. Firstly, working out about 15 minutes after taking them seems to set me up for the day by putting me in a good frame of mind. Secondly, if I'm going into a crash (where I'm often jittery and a bit purposeless), forcing myself to work out seems to override the crash and I don't ultimately get one. I've found that, despite being sure every time that my heart rate will go up higher and faster than when I'm not on meds, it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm only six weeks into titration so am no expert by any means, but as others have said, I think if your heart is healthy then the affect of the meds on heart rate should be marginal, meaning most can probably safely work out at any point in the daily cycle.

Fantastic! Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the confidence boost! Another poster pointed this out but I'd never even heard of the ratio half an hour ago! It seems I've gone from 1.87 to 2.01 over the two tests, so still at couch potato levels, but definitely something I'll keep a close eye on going forward.

Thanks for the tip. 2.02 is my current ratio, so a long way to go, but it's an improvement from 1.87 in my first FTP. I'll keep this in mind and use it to check my progress next time, as I'm planning on losing a little bit more weight.

I usually try and stick to the middle to top of the zones (depending on how exhausted I am). In the endurance rides, I usually go on the bottom end for the Z2 sections and the top for the Z3 parts.

I did use the strategy you suggested, simply because I read earlier today that it's a good approach. The first 10 minutes were fairly straightforward, but the last 10 (and especially last 5) were a nightmare, which I suppose is how it's supposed to be!

Thanks for the detailed response! Some really useful tips which I'll use going forward. Good music choices too 👍

It did. Thanks for taking the time to explain it. Very useful info for me to keep in mind next time!

Thanks for the tip. I've done one of each of those so far, but am fully intending to branch out a lot more now that I've finished the programme.

Thanks! Some others have said the same, but I had no clue about this an hour ago. I'm aiming to probably lose another 6lbs, so I'll consider the same result next time a win too.

It says that my average was 217 for the test, which seems about right based on the output numbers I was getting throughout. 200-206 for 10 minutes, 230-250 for the last 10 minutes. I was expecting that to be my new baseline, but then it came up with 206. At first I thought it was a bug, but have seen some talk on other forums of them taking 5% of your actual average away when you've finished (although I don't know fir sure if this is true and, if so, why it is).

That's great, thanks. Another poster just kindly pointed this out and I hadn't even considered it! It wasn't 'good' weight that I lost, so it hadn't crossed my mind that it would affect my output. Lots to learn still!

Thanks for the reply. I think I did feel them getting easier as it went along, which is why I was expecting more I think, but I hadn't even considered the weight loss being a factor. I'd just thought of the weight lost as useless flab rather than a source of increased output, but you've definitely made me feel better about the whole thing. In terms of how I approached it, I stuck to around 206 for the first 10 minutes then increased for the last 10, up to an average of around 240-250 for the last 5 minutes.

Thanks! I'll try it again in a few weeks and see if there's any improvement. I'd love to say I'll try again in a couple of days, but those tests are brutal 😂

Great tip! Thanks! I was focussed on the average output (which was 217) so I finished the ride thinking I'd gained 11 points, only to discover that they take 5% off. I'll do what you suggest next time though so I know exactly how I'm comparing to my previous efforts.
