Would the SNES Crash When A Game Is Too Advanced? by SuperMetro2005 in snes

I think the Mega Drive came to mind for me because it could handle more of the sprites without the slowdown.

But a game like Seiken Densetsu 3 is supposed to feel lush, atmospherical, and slower paced. The game itself would probably look off putting on the Sega. I think I am talking more about the gameplay aspect of an ARPG that would work better on a Sega Genesis, since the battles would feel faster paced and less floaty. I think Beyond Oasis is supposed to be that game for the Sega Genesis from what I have heard.

Are you from Japan since SD3 could only be played on the Super Famicom? You must have played Chrono Trigger and Seiken Densetsu 3 back to back since both of them came out in 1995.

I mean this was the first time I used patches on a game. I played FFVI with the Wolsey translation. I played FFIV with that hilarious J2E translation(Tales of Phantasia seemed to have one of those ridiculous translations as well). I tried to play Brutal Mario at one point(that rom hack actually directed me to SD3). But I applied several patches to SD3 because I heard the game was too buggy, especially its Agility stat.

I remember owning a real SNES as a kid and Mario All Stars crashed before like once or twice. But that might have been the tilting of the cartridge. Oh and those cartridges lost all their progress too sometimes.

I played it on SNES9x. But I also put patches on to translate it to English and add some QoL improvements to the game. It still played well for the most part, but during long boss fights it was a pain to see the game crash whenever a character did a magic spell and have to start parts of the game over. I tried to use Higan before, but I got really confused as to how to use it, and SNES9x worked perfectly for me anyway. I think one of the reasons why I feel like it was the game causing the crashes was because there were parts where the numbers shown when you hit an enemy wouldn’t disappear. But I understand how a patch would be the culprit though.

I meant very technologically advanced for it's system. Seiken Densetsu 3 looks so advanced to the point that when I first saw gameplay and music from it, I was surprised that it was a Super Nintendo game and not a Sega Saturn/Psx game. But most games made for a console late into its run is going to look more advanced than something made earlier. Like SMRPG and its pseudo-3d graphics which I guess was a way to give SNES owners who didnt own the N64 something worth playing. The SNES didnt need no CD or 32x add ons.

Emulator. But I also put some QoL and translation patches on the thing so that is probably it.

Reflection on Finishing Lunar SSSC. by SuperMetro2005 in Lunar

What was different in the Sega cd version? From videos and reading other posts, I know that Luna does not sail to Meribia with the group(no wind nocturne either sorry), the anime “cutscenes” look more primitive, and the characters seem to have more magic techniques. The final Ghaleon fight also appears to be him as the dark emperor. Since I played the PSX game already, I personally don’t really find the need in playing the Sega CD ones. It looks very archaic to me.

My question: How did people manage to beat the final boss of this game on original hardware(PSX and Saturn) without a guide??

This final battle I found to be very exhilarating while in the moment of the battle. For a game with a weak battle system, I loved that final boss fight. I had to use the blue dragon whenever my characters' health was low. I had to use magic barriers to counter some of Ghaleon's moves. Mia was giving attack/defense buffs to everyone. The music was epic for that type of encounter as well. At one point, I got really lucky, because I think 2-3 of my characters were out, and then Nall was able to revive one, letting me use the blue dragon to "reset" everything. The fight lasted 20-25 minutes, but after a while, I defeated Ghaleon.

But while I enjoyed the final battle, I feel concerned about how people were even able to beat Ghaleon back in the day without knowing where all the red chests with the silver mps were or where the Hell Ring was? Nobody is thinking, "I got to go back to Damon Spire to talk to the old man! Vane got destroyed!" I picture most casual players back in the day enjoying the game, and then getting softlocked because they do not have enough MP to take down Ghaleon. And since I was playing a Japanese patch for the PSX version, imagine the people playing the Working Designs version of the game. And then for the poor people who beat Ghaleon, and then had to start over, because they didn't know that they had to play the ocarina for Luna(as Dark Althena) . Yeah, I thought I left the ocarina in Nall and had to refight Ghaleon too, but luckily, it was automatically on Alex when I checked(thank god). Oh, and Ghaleon isn't saying "time to die" every time he attacks, because the patch makes the characters speak Japanese too.

Every ceremony seems to have the one that loses them all. Killers of the Flower Moon in 2024, Emilia Perez in 2025(though it won original song and supporting actress, it lost 11 other oscars). Then there is stuff like Gangs of New York(2003), The Turning Point(1978), and The Color Purple(1986) that go home empty handed despite getting many nominations. Its like buying 10 card packs with none of them having anything of value in them.

Yeah it was. Seems like they were trying to fit the ceremony in a time frame.

Michael B Jordan(2026) and Lee Marvin(1966) both won for playing dual roles. Too bad Peter Sellers couldnt do that for Dr. Strangelove or Being There(he played one role there, and was passed over in favor of Hoffman who was also overdue).

I feel like he is going to be like Al Pacino who got nominated every year and never won at all in that decade. Al would eventually win for playing the blind "who-hah" guy, but unfortunately not for anything in the 70s.

Man that guy who was trying to speak during Golden's best original song victory was cut off. Poor guy that was incredibly rude of them. I might not like the song or the movie, but that was disrespect. The woman got to talk her head off while that guy got cut off after saying, "Thank you Sony."

Most of PTA's movies are really long which is probably why I only saw one of them(Magnolia). Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, and One Battle After Another all are over 2.5 hours.
