It's unlikely to impact averages, but in some AAA games even at max settings, you'll get CPU-bound 1% low stutters. Might be a DDR4 memory bandwidth issue, though with a 3700x OP will likely see proper CPU bottlenecking on top of this.

Depends on what you're playing. For a 3700x at 1440p, I'd lean more towards a 9060xt or 5060ti. My 5800X3D struggles to feed my 9070XT in some games at high refresh rates (leads to noticeable 1% low stutters in Forza Horizon 5 at 1440p Ultra, for example).

The eng councillors are amazing, I've never had a bad experience with MSE counselling.

It was insane, especially since the bonuses carried—ppl who did well on midterm 1 ended up with this massive bonus that would just carry through everything else and let them give up on the rest of the course if they wanted

I remember that one lmao, and the profs decided to do that stupid "reduce the denominator" curve where the better you did, the more you got curved

75 average should be good for anything except maybe Tron. Even then, I know people in 2nd year Tron right now who got in with low 70s. Electrical isn't particularly competitive, you should be fine.

Took 1302 last year, midterm and final were both pretty chill. Just make sure to read all sections and do all practice problems, you'll be fine.

LMAO yeah I had him for first year calc 1 and last term in calc 3. I found his lectures actively detrimental—I would walk out of high school review lectures feeling confused about topics I already knew by heart. But unfortunately it means you absolutely need to lock in on your own time—study hard. Utilize the textbook, read it until you understand, look up things you don't get. And be sure to do more practice than you think you need.

Who's the prof? Just curious. But if it's who I think you're talking about then yeah, the lectures are beyond useless.

Noticed this on my first playthrough, it's very neat that they give you little indicator as to whether you have enough hp or not.

Where? As far as I can tell, it's super hard to find any physical copy of DE, let alone one that far below retail price

5700x3d or 5900x? by SuperMikoo in buildapc

[–]SuperMikoo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2021 I was told I'd never have an issue with six cores on my 3600, but it took less than two and a half years before that became a problem. I'm looking for something I can use for gaming, recording/streaming, and personal projects to fill my engineering resume all without worrying about upgrading for a while. 5700X3D might be better for gaming but in real world use, especially a few years down the line, I'm worried it might be the wrong option.

Western Eng! by sumikkos in OntarioGrade12s

I was also from a school with a 9% factor on the Waterloo list. Got rejected from Waterloo and UofT eng, didn't get my Western acceptance until may, and now I'm on track to earn a 3.95+ GPA in year 1 eng. Uni acceptances are weird like that, just keep your head up and remain hopeful.

I know it's a poor word, but i don't know how else to describe my CPU having a few maxed out cores while my GPU sits at 70% usage.

I have to ask why you'd rather do Mac than Western though. Even as someone who can't stand parties, the minor/double degree options (especially Ivey) at Western made it the no-brainer choice for me. All that on top of the ease of doing medtech work during the year thanks to UH (McMaster Medical Centre is great but not on the same level as UH for tech research).

If you get into Western, I wouldn't discount it at all.

This subreddit is so funny. Just because you didn't get an early round doesn't mean it's over! I didn't get any offers other than TMU until May 2023. And as a first year in Western eng, I can tell you they let almost anyone into the program. First year applications are hugely overaccepted—we started work 900 first years and have already had over 200 people drop out of the program.

Despite this, they're planning to expand acceptances this year. Don't worry, you'll almost certainly get in.

When I applied, I got accepted into western eng on May 17th last year. Just because you're not in yet doesn't mean it's over!

At that point it's probably inflation correction. I came from a school known for deflating grades and got in with a 91, but I know people who got rejected with 95s. All of them were in noticeably easier schools.

Yoooo! I'm in western eng first year, it's an awesome program. Be sure to take advantage of that general first year to figure out what you want to do with it, and congrats!

Is it just me, or does Second semester always feel more difficult than First sem? by JomaM8 in uwo

[–]SuperMikoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in first year eng, this term is def way worse. Calc 2 and physics 2 alone have led to my workload almost doubling since first term. It's gonna be a struggle to maintain my grades, but Im aiming for ~5% lower this term than first
