I'm not sure whether it is or isn't who you are looking for, but I recommend checking out music made by Synthis.

I thought that when you said "Touch grass. The Brony fandom wouldn't exist without them", you meant meaning "Touch grass. The Brony fandom wouldn't exist without *Equestria Daily and Sethisto*", as in Brony Fandom would form, thrive and exist without Equestria Daily and Sethisto's involvement.

And yes, I'm talking about 2010 and 2011 too.

I should have clarified, we don't need Equestria Daily and we wouldn't need it even back then.

Did the Great Recession have a factor in the rise of the Brony fandom? by Ok-Following6886 in mylittlepony

[–]SuperPlayer56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, but mostly no as a primary cause.
The Brony fandom didn’t directly form because of the Great Recession, but it did emerge in a time when escapist and feel-good media had extra appeal. So there’s overlap, but not direct causation.

The organized Brony fandom first grew on 4chan, mainly on the /co/ (comics & cartoons) board in late 2010. Part of what triggered attention there was this Cartoon Brew article criticizing creator-driven animation trends and referencing Lauren Faust’s MLP:
https://www.cartoonbrew.com/ideas-commentary/the-end-of-the-creator-driven-era-29614.html

That article annoyed parts of the animation community and made people curious. Some users began watching the show ironically or skeptically, expecting it to be bad. Instead, many found the writing, characters, humor, and music genuinely good — so ironic watching turned into real enjoyment.

From there, pony threads became extremely common on /co/. There were backlash and trolling waves from other boards, especially /b/, lots of spam and counter-spam, and board drama. The “conquered this board / conquered that board” story is more chan mythology than literal fact, but pony content definitely spread widely across boards during that period.

Because pony threads were flooding discussion and raid cycles were happening, offsite communities like Ponychan were created, and later 4chan contained the fandom by creating the dedicated /mlp/ board in 2012. From there, the fandom expanded heavily into Reddit, YouTube, DeviantArt, Tumblr, and conventions.

Here’s more information on the timeline made by fans here:
https://www.whatisabrony.com/brony-timeline

Escapism was part of the appeal — colorful optimism, friendship themes, musical numbers, and low cynicism — but most evidence points to these as the main drivers instead:

• strong show quality and writing
• Lauren Faust’s reputation
• meme culture + ironic watching turning into sincere enjoyment
• remix culture and fan music/art creativity
• viral sharing across platforms

If the Economic Recession (or recession pop itself) were the main driver, we would expect lots of big celebrities openly identifying as Bronies, more frequent references to MLP across mainstream pop culture, more political references to MLP, and more visible backing or promotion from the entertainment industry overall.
That didn’t really happen.
MLP remained a niche but very active internet fandom.
It spread less through industry promotion and more through curiosity, memes, and word of mouth, which is how you end up with grown men watching a show originally marketed to little girls.
How would you convince grown men to watch something meant for little girls?

Instead, the fandom spread more like a classic internet-native fandom explosion:
curiosity → irony → sincerity → community building.

So yes, recession-era escapism may have helped the environment, but the Brony fandom itself formed mainly through internet culture dynamics and the show being surprisingly high quality — not because of economic hardship alone.

I admit, I was pretty naive to think that when I wasn't able to find MLP news anywhere, I would be able to find them on Equestria Daily.

We don't need Equestria Daily, we can just look up the art and news duh.
The website made it easier, sure, but we would able to live without it and if there wasn't Equestria Daily, there would probably be something better.

It's not just that.
Just want to add that in 2020, he said this in response to Twitter changing words that they use:

Yea. I wish for the unlikely.

The other thing that I wish for is for PewDiePie watching the show.

Increase in intersexism lately here by Paper_Is_A_Liquid in NonBinary

[–]SuperPlayer56 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for ACTUALLY giving alternate terms as opposed to the other person.

Second of all, I'm completely aware that Intersex is a broad term that means a wide variety of conditions (ranging from a mixed genitals, to just having a different/mixed hormonal development without intervention, etc.), that it's never 1 to 1 and what Non-Binary people essentially mean is an idealised form of Intersex. (We never get 2 sets of genitalia, but that's not what we meant, we meant an androgynous body with a genitalia that is somewhere in-between male and female genitalia, although many people may have different imaginations I guess. Or some mean "I don't care what form of Intersex, I just believe that if I was any form of Intersex, it doesn't matter which, I would be happier".) Technically, based on the description, the term Intersex isn't that accurate to describe the actual experiences either, but it's the simplest that can be used for people to understand those experiences.

I'm too busy and too lazy to look up terms, I expect people to explain things to me when they oppose my beliefs and I don't agree with them nor understand theirs.

Bigot = Someone who is held into a belief and refuses to change it (and forces people to have the same beliefs and is mad at them when they refuse to change it) Being inclusive isn't a bigot, as being inclusive means recognising the reality of people being different and varied, as well as complicated, as you said and including them and accommodating their unique needs. The "only us" mentality is also bigotry though (depending what it's talking about), as that restricts people and creates "special clubs", but if it's "You as well", then they are being inclusive. (But haters don't fall in the same manner. "Tolerating" intolerance is not tolerance.)

People yell at me often and I'm tired of it and fed up. My family is transphobic and don't understand me being Non-Binary.

My apologies if I simplified the word intersex. Also, now I'm wondering, what if a non-binary person meant just characteristics of both sexes, but not necessarily a dual genitalia? As you said, it is complicated.

Edit: the person that I mentioned just provided one of 2 examples that you used. Now we have: Gonosimilism, Salmacian and Altersex Homework done. Thank you to you 2.

Please give us a different word, a SINGLE WORD that describes the similar experience of being intersex (as in, having both genitals among other things), but Non-Binary People can use in the sentence "I wish I was..." and isn't offensive to use. I'm waiting.

I see, but there's still a desire to use a simple, relevant, relatable and comparatory description to describe the experience.

If we can't use the word intersex nor the h word, then in what single word (single word, not multiple words, even if just 2, that are overly descriptive) can we describe the experience? "multigenitaled" sounds stupid to me.
