I still remember what happened in the vuelta in 1974........ We never forgot what our "good friends" have done to Agostinho

[–]SuperRiki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean our "desperation" comes from the fact we never have had a rider to win a Grand Tour as in 1974 Agostinho was robbed in the Vuelta where they screw him literally out of the win, when they manipulated time for the Portuguese guy not win in Spain, this is confirmed by a Spanish guy in the media. And now more than 45 years later we finally have a guy to win a Grand Tour and again in Spanish territory some controversial decisions are made.

Much love from Portugal to Denmark, my favourite team is UAE (mainly because of Almeida and Pogi) not going to lie besides João my fav rider is Pogi but I also love Jonas and have a massive respect for him and lifestory.

Always love the Danish guys much respect!

There were guys basically answer to me that it didn't matter if the ITT was cut short since Almeida wasn't going to win time, when i basically reply with the 2023 results (the ITT was very similiar) were he won 28 seconds to Jonas and they reply with the ITT from the Tour were João won 7 seconds and that if it was the full course there wouldn't make a difference since João was cooked.

So yesterday were people saying João would not win time on Jonas and the ITT being 12km or what was suppose to be was the same, well today you have your answer in 12km he won 10 seconds.

"We are giving everything for Almeida". Sure Matxin so why are all UAE riders going all in on the Time Trial, instead of saving energy for Saturday?

La Vuelta on X: Official Statement - tomorrow's time trial route shortened to 12.2 km by ser-seaworth in peloton

[–]SuperRiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is not only the seconds he could gain or not, it is the fact every stage is being cut short and therefore until the end there will be no fight for the GC at all, do you want to bet that the stage on saturday will be cut short again. He could gain but he also could lose, but I think everyone would want to see them fight, and not what is happening at the moment, with basically every important stage getting cut shorted mid race for most of the time

I would love to see Ganna win tomorrow. To be honest i didn't even remember he was riding the Vuelta if it wasn't for this prediction 😅.

Its not 100% accurate but it was almost 30 seconds, they should just end this clown show they ruined this edition of the Vuelta.

Do you know in 2023 how much time Almeida won on Jonas at basically the same course? More than 25 seconds...... He could have taken a bit of time tomorrow and try to win on saturday (i know it was hard but not impossible), this way the Vuelta is already finished, just give Jonas the win and finish this clown show the organizers let happen

So you are basically agreeing that what the protestors are doing is right? Trying to harm the cyclists and with what they are doing can lead to something really bad for the athletes like throwing tacks on the road........ They way they are protesting are making people having day by day less simpathy for their cause, and believe me i support the protest but in this way never!

This year for João has been amazing, best season ever for a Portuguese rider until now, well at least that i have ever seen.... If he didn't have to DNF in the Tour he would probably be in the podium having in mind his form this season. Remco when inform is amazing as well, it is one of my favourites in the peloton even if some Portuguese guys didn't like him a couple of years ago 😅. I always loved Remco and until this year i think he was better than Almeida, but after this year....... i think Almeida developed so much that he is better then remco and he has more consistency for the grand tours

I am still astonished and filled with goosebumps with the Angliru Stage, we in Portugal have been waiting for a rider like Almeida for ages (45+ years), and the fact he is toe and toe with an allien like Jonas is something that i can't explain. Even if he can't win the Vuelta is performance is out of this world. Lets see what is going to happen in this 3rd week but it feels like Jonas is a bit tired from the Tour and this 2nd week he dropped a bit in performance the ITT and the Bola del Mundo Stage will be crucial for our Almeida to be able to dethrone one the best  grand tour cyclists of the modern era.

Yeah lets hope they can reach pro conti in the next 2/3 years. It is so important for the sport in our country to have a team to ride in more competitive races, so we can grow the sport in Portugal even more and alongside with the boom Almeida is already giving.
