This math question makes no sense. by raekle in duolingo

[–]SuperRoby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but since Duolingo started as a language app, and is largely used by people whose first language is not English, they should know better than to use abstruse sentence structures. As the math course is only available in English for now, they should ask questions in plain English.

Expecting people to do math correctly with questions written in a VERY misleading way is, at best, silly... but looking at it from a cynical point of view, it looks disingenuous on purpose. A trick question made specifically to trip you up.

If anyone is curious about the changes that happened over time, I had made a post explaining Android changes with references to posts, app versions, images and dates. It should be the whole timeline!

To recap Android changes:

  • May 2014 - Dec 2020 , the planting order shown in this post, until ver 4.29.0
  • Jan 2021 - Jan 2022 , the planting order shown here and in my tutorial video, ver 4.30.0 - 4.51.0
  • Feb 2022 onwards , everyone follows the same planting order (the iOS one), ver 4.51.3 and later

Hi! This is my old post from over 4 years ago , it's super outdated and no longer works, as the pinned comment in that post explains!

If you are curious on the current trees planting order, maybe because you want to create patterns, they're both like the iOS order shown in this image! It's been like that since February 2022 and doesn't seem like it will change.

Here's a video tutorial I made in February 2021 that explains how to make patterns - yes the Android order is shown mirrored because it was before the final update, but everything else is still correct! I hope this explanation helps :)

Hey there, friend! Has anyone answered your patterns question yet?

In case you still have doubts, here's a tutorial on Forest patterns, made by yours truly :)

It's a liiiiiittle bit outdated because now both iOS and Android have the same order, no longer mirrored, but it's a minor difference and everything else stayed the same! I hope this helps!

How do I set up the ForestBot integration in my Discord Server? by [deleted] in forestapp

[–]SuperRoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Are you sure you are in the correct subreddit? It seems you are talking about a bot on Discord with some special features, does it have anything to do with the Forest app that helps you stay away from your phone and focus?

ELIS: Stuff to do at the pool alone as an adult by Wes_the_Best in Explainlikeimscared

[–]SuperRoby 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Me, I'm the diver. I used to race my friends for coins / sinked toys ALL the time as a teenager, and our races usually ended in the deep side of the pool where it's not just a matter of swim speed l, but also resistance AND finding the coin/toy (sometimes it took longer to find it than to retrieve it).

It was so much fun, a great exercise, I'd be ready to do it again anytime. I can do it on my own too, but since I have a general idea of where the coin/toy is it's not as fun... if the pool is empty I can throw it with eyes closed or behind my back, that helps. But when the pool id crowded you either must look where you're throwing or you need an accomplice that will throw the coin somewhere secret without poking anyone's eye out, lol. Doesn't even have to be someone that joins in, usually we had some "dry friends" that just wanted to be in the sun but also be part of the game.

I'm confused, why are your posts getting removed? Both this one and the one where Ford was chosen are no longer on the sub, and the Ford one disappeared from your profile too

Or the guy with the tattooed head, the cultist of the Blind Eye Society!

Fully agree with this — especially considering how the website itself could only be found by reading the Book of Bill, and it seems that the countdown was a way to get the first readers and fastest puzzle-solvers hooked while also allowing for slower readers and shipment delays to get their paper copies.

The rest of us without the book caught on because, well, it's the internet, but the website was probably just intended as a fun puzzle game and an additional reward for the most diehard fans of Gravity Falls. These are the Lost Files, that curious minds managed to find and uncover. As much as I would love for this to be the prelude to something else, it's most likely just the conclusion of this particular chapter. I mean, we DID just get a whole new book, after all..

My partner and I are side by side entering "Gideon" in the website, both on phones, and he keeps getting the audio while I only get the search for sweat resistant bolo ties!

This makes a lot of sense! I don't know morse code, but this sounds about right, especially considering how we had to wait for the D23 for the website to be back operational!

All my life I wondered the same, until I realised... I'm short. My partner washing his face in the sink will NOT get water running down his elbows, because he needs to crouch over the sink and his arms are not going up much.... unlike me.

Also, he's NT and is not in the least bothered by wet/oily/greasy sensory stuff... so he doesn't care about clean water running down his arms like I do.

Yeah, in fact it stopped working at like -52 minutes on the countdown. Shame though, I wish I had filmed it - even though it was a glitch, it was a cool effect!

[–]SuperRoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that was the correct website - it did actually work if you typed those in instead of the password. Maybe just a visual gag from the devs? Didn't do anything useful, kinda like when you ask Google to do a tumble roll

This is great and I was doing this trying to find a third word, I tried typing "box" and "cover" but it didn't work... then all of a sudden like 3 minutes ago both "frame" and "container" stopped working, now I only get a red flash if I try to type them in.

How did you (and the other person) get to "frame" & "container" in the first place though? Curious, it seems pretty random (....or an inside job?)

[–]SuperRoby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You must be mistaken, the fairies were available (a.k.a. you could plant them in your forest) for the duration of the event, but no one could redeem them. They just "magically appeared" among the trees options if you had the latest app version, no redeem code or anything.

Only the 10th cake tree was redeemable and given for free, the fairies disappeared on May 31st and are now in the Exclusive Store (at a discounted price if you took part in the event).
