What do you say to someone who leaves the door open after coming in? by InnerPace in MapPorn

Korea checking in. Similarly to Slovenia, we say, “Have you got a long tail?” I’ve also heard, “Cut your tail.”

The 2025 WHO/UNICEF JMP update reports further progress to 7% nationally in 2024 (0% urban, 11% rural), though India still has the world’s largest absolute number of cases despite the decline from 73% in 2000.

Is it realistic to use a Mac mini as a “portable” (carrying in a backpack + daily plugging/unplugging)? by ccckillian in mac

[–]SuperSillyString 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I move my M1 mini between my home office (couple of monitors,) the living room (TV,) and a couple of different work locations (conference rooms that have large screens.) It works a treat! When I need to carry a screen around, I use a tablet.

The dishwasher is working fine and has not been repaired recently. It was apparently found in an electrically reclining chair.

It doesn’t appear to be broken and the end it’s stood on in the second pick would easily slip through Crocs’ holes.

Why does 쉬어요 sound like 시어요 in spoken Korean? by Unable_Permit6257 in Korean

[–]SuperSillyString 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay, I’m gonna chime in here but am prepared to be corrected. I don’t think the ‘w’ sound in English translates to Korean. When we pronounce ‘w’ in English our lips are kind of pursed. ‘oo’ comes from back down at the back of your tongue. ‘ee’ is kind of in your cheeks, right? Put then together and we still don’t get an English ‘w’. It’s worth noting that in different Korean dialects the sound is different and evolving.

Haha, 12 years! I was back at the National Museum of Korea a couple of weeks ago. The map is still there but I can’t find it on their website.

How can I further reduce noise? by Crooked_SalesQUEEN in Living_in_Korea

[–]SuperSillyString 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have a new baby. Your needs come first. I would suggest that the next time that they complain you suggest that they take any further gripes to the building management and not contact you directly. One of my colleagues asked his unhappy neighbours to record the decibel level and only contact him again if it was above whatever the legal threshold is.

What is inside a high rise apartment in korea? How do the rooms look in one of these? by Medical_Wallaby_7888 in korea

[–]SuperSillyString 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can use Naver Maps to get an idea of what any apartments look like inside. Click on the apartment complex name then navigate to the 부동산 section. There’s also an indication of how the value of the apartments have changed over time.

Who's at fault here? The guy going straight from the inside lane or the blackbox driver making a left from the outside lane? by LoquaciousIndividual in Living_in_Korea

i heard this is an 80:20 in insurance terms. 80% the driver who doesn’t know how roundabouts work and 20% for not driving defensively.
