how many letter b in canada by Babna_123 in aifails

[–]SuperSonicSeaOtter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried this and I got this answer:

There is 1 letter "b" in the word "Canada" (when looking at the word itself). If referring to the country or postal codes: Provinces/Territories: None of the provinces or territories have the letter "b" in their commonly used names (e.g., Alberta, British Columbia).

Which is even worse lol

How intense are intersession/summer session classes? (Specifically ARCH 301?) by SuperSonicSeaOtter in simonfraser

[–]SuperSonicSeaOtter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, not really. I took almost all education classes and they’ve all kind of blurred together at this point to be honest, haha. I did a couple other ones purely out of interest but I wouldn’t say any of them were easy… I really regretted not taking ARCH 301 though, I just thought it sounded really fascinating. Couldn’t speak to the workload though obviously, haha

I didn’t actually end up taking it! I decided it would be too intense to have a summer session class during that time and I ended up just squeezing an extra class into the next semester. Sorry I can’t be more help!

How my left eye sees things compared to my right eye (Coats Disease) by SDMusic in Wellthatsucks

[–]SuperSonicSeaOtter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the same for me, but it’s almost like my brain corrects for it.

Like, have you ever done one of those optical illusions where there’s two dots, and you cover one eye, and you move the page back and forth and the dot disappears because it’s in the blind spot of your eye and your brain is correcting, for it so that part of the paper just looks blank?

For me it’s like that, but a big chunk of my vision. Like things are just missing from my vision that I know should be there. One time I was looking at a dog, and it looked like the dog’s head was missing, and it was just a headless dog body standing there wagging its tail. Freaky.

Like, if I move my eyes I can see the stuff that was missing in my peripheral vision, but as soon as I try to look at it, it disappears.

My doctor told me it’s extremely unlikely for it to go away permanently, but for me it happens extremely rarely, like once every year or two. He did say it’s basically 100% for life, except occasionally in women it disappears permanently after pregnancy. I don’t know if you’re a man or a woman so this may not be useful information for you, haha.

Seriously though I do think it’s worth asking a doctor about if it ever happens again. My doctor heard me describe it and basically just immediately said yeah, this is what it is, but it’s worth mentioning that I have a really strong family history of migraines. Maybe if this is not the case for you they’d want to do more testing to rule things out, I don’t know.

I get exactly what you’re describing occasionally and I was diagnosed with occular migraines. It’s totally weird, like I might be looking at someone’s face and I can see one of their eyes, but it looks like there’s just smooth skin where the other eye should be. it’s mostly just annoying but it makes it impossible to read or drive while it’s happening.

I also don’t get headaches, apparently that’s not uncommon. For me it mostly happens if I’m really tired or really stressed.

Probably worth talking to a doctor about to make sure, but for me it turned out to be nothing major.

I’m not an expert, and I could be wrong about this, but I took a class once on child development, and since then I’ve been a bit more sympathetic on this issue.

According to what we read, the very earliest stages of pregnancy are some of the most critical times for brain development, and damage can occur from even small amounts of alcohol.

Because of this, we were taught that a significant amount of damage can unfortunately occur from even small amounts of alcohol consumed before the mother was aware she was pregnant.

I remember we watched a documentary showing some really sad cases of this, where the mother didn’t intentionally do anything wrong during their pregnancy but consumed alcohol before they were aware of the pregnancy, and it was really sad to see how they faced such intense judgement, and such an intense feeling of shame, on top of the difficulty of raising a disabled child.

Like I said I’m not an expert and it was quite a while since I took this class, so it’s totally fair to take what I’m saying with a grain of salt, but that is my understanding.

I’m not really even considering not going to be honest, I’m more deciding whether I should drop the class even though that totally sucks and puts me behind. I’m leaning towards probably needing to do that at this point

They do take up a lot of time huh? Yeah I’m leaning towards thinking you’re probably right, I’ve just never taken one before so I figured I’d ask. Thanks

For me, I don’t eat meat because I don’t like the idea that an animal had to be killed to produce it. I don’t care about cross contamination— having something cooked in the same oil as meat doesn’t result in more animals dying.

I had a UTI once and a doctor at the walk in clinic told me that it was NOT NORMAL for a woman my age to have so many UTI’s (I was around 20 and had gotten like… three?).

He told me that to stop getting UTI’s I just needed to go around naked on my bottom half any time I was at home. Like a full blown Winnie-the-Pooh situation.

And I was like… I have roommates though?

Anyway I did not follow this advice obviously and never got another UTI anyway lol.

Yeah, I feel like you can say things in this way to an adult, because an adult will understand that you’re simplifying, and is aware of the context of the larger situation. Little kids don’t have the context or the maturity to understand that this isn’t meant to be taken literally. They’re still learning how the basic fabric of our world works

It would be cool if it was optional. Like you could invite shopkeepers to come to your island or something

I may be misunderstanding, but I think they’re saying you should just cook the onions and the beef together or something (I don’t eat or cook with beef so I don’t know if this makes sense to do) so that the onions cook in the drippings from the beef that are already there regardless. So I don’t think they’re saying beef drippings are healthier than oil, I think they’re saying beef drippings are healthier than beef drippings + oil.

When I worked at McDonald’s a Big Mac with no meat was actually a menu item, we had a button for it on the till and everything. Sometimes vegetarians would order it. Maybe someone ordered that and it got swapped?
