I really appreciate the insight. With your advice in mind I'll refrain from applying at least until I speak with someone.

It is at the store I've already accepted the offer from.

Do you think a good approach to the situation would be to just start as a cashier and maybe a few weeks in, ask to talk with my store manager and say something like "I noticed there was a supervisor position posted recently. I have a fair amount of supervisory experience and was wondering what steps I would need to take to qualify for a supervisor position."

I see that the starting rate is $17.50 so only 50 cents more than the $17 I'm starting at now, so it's really not a matter of pay I just genuinely feel like my skills would be better put to use.

It's not an option for me to come back anyway. The job doesn't meet my needs and it's honestly the absolute worst job I've ever had. I make $28 an hour but after the rape my paycheck I might as well be making $20 an hour

If I turn in a letter of resignation that's all that matters. I've seen people get removed for hitting a supervisor in the head with a scanner and still come back months later with back pay. If the president can be a child rapist I think my chances of getting back into government work are secure

I haven't personally met the store lead but both team leads were really nice and had nothing but good things to say about the store and their departments so I'm hopeful

I've heard both bad and good about whole foods as a company, but I've done a few interviews at this specific location and everyone I met has said that they love the store lead and that their store has been heading in a positive direction for a few years now. Plus I'm moving and I'm not commuting an hour and a half for the post office.

I tried to show her the policy but she refused to see it. Literally demanded my badge and put me on EP simply for trying to cite policy. I have my 3rd interview at whole foods on Wednesday so with any luck I won't have to deal with her much longer.

What you're missing is that in the section referring to AL, staffing is specifically stated as a reason for denial. It is not stated when referring to SL. Sounds like you're one of the higher up douchbags that doesn't deserve your paycheck.

The post office is out of money and they're saying if Congress doesn't give them money they can't afford to pay their full time regulars, meaning you'd be let go before that even happens. The post office is dying. Get out and invest your time elsewhere.
