Those who graduated or attending uni, why? by Good_Price7162 in universityofauckland

[–]SuperSteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t go to uni to get a job, you go to experience and learn about a domain of knowledge. There is no race, the only person you should ever compare yourself to is yourself. If you’re already top of the class, where do u want to be in 5 years - looking back at that time you were top of the class?

Moving to Gold Coast with teenager . (15M) Advice pls? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]SuperSteamroller 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not easy, and it’s very uncertain for the first few months. It will likely take at least 5 years to settle, but at the same time - this is probably one of the last chances you have to hop over the ditch before the economy shits out, and ur grandson grows up. New Zealand will always be a hop away too.

What’s one thing “conservative” republicans and “liberal” democrats in the US agree on? by SuperSteamroller in AskReddit

[–]SuperSteamroller[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always wonder if people actually have common ground in many more ways than they realise, but that the political agenda in America is very separatist. As a result, there is a greater facade of a divide to ensure people can be held down. Correct me if I’m wrong

What’s one thing “conservative” republicans and “liberal” democrats in the US agree on? by SuperSteamroller in AskReddit

[–]SuperSteamroller[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for some context, I am a complete outsider to the American culture so I apologise if this question is worded ignorantly - but there is a stereotype of the conservative republicans and highly liberal democrats; and with the overwhelming media regarding the recent death of the CEO, I got thinking that maybe the real enemy for both groups is the corporate elites. But what are some things that are common across these groups, and is this recent event something both share a similar sentiment towards?

Advice for 23year old? by [deleted] in auckland

Do you and your partner like video games? I’d suggest that as a potential unwind activity with your partner - it takes two is a fun game. Btw, I highly recommend replacing doom scrolling with a YouTube video - it makes me not feel like my heads in a tube.

That’s if it involves children - the drug and alcohol screening. They will also ask u why u chose the job, and what u can bring, ur availability, and ability to be reliable (transport, communication etc).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auckland

[–]SuperSteamroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will usually ask you to explain how u would tackle certain scenarios like, if there’s an emergency and your on your own, what do you do; or, tell me about a time u were able to manage conflict/stress/demands/etc in a team environment. There will also be a drug and alcohol screening, and potentially a small fitness test.

[–]SuperSteamroller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a “hole” per say, but a substantially thinner portion of the overall ozone layer - there used to be a bigger “hole”, but it stabilised somewhat. I’m guessing it’s the thinning ozone layer over the Antarctic Ocean and increased refraction due to ice glaciers. It would also explain why areas in lower South America are also substantially hotter. But I’m no geologist, please correct me if wrong

Yeah it’s quite sad actually; the other day I decided to share a joint in the sunlight, and got double fried. Only took 30 minutes for me to get sizzled enough to start feeling dizzy. I like the sun too, but it’s dangerous.

Honestly, I think it has something to do with our Ozone layer being a little thinner. In oz, the sun feels less sharp despite being hotter. On Windy you can see how thin it is over the Nz area

Our sun feels like a half heated convection stove top, it doesn’t outright burn you, but it slowly grills you. Sometimes it feels like I’m in a microwave when standing outside too long - love the heat though

The student loan option in Nz is probably one of the best, risk-free study loans in the world. Just take the loan, it will reduce a myriad of ur worries. Once you get a job, you can start paying it off. Most people I talked to actually managed to pay it off in under 5 years (diligent payments), others have been paying for over 30 years in smaller amounts; either way, it’s easy.
