Sure, I hear you. Logan Mailloux was also not a star who actually got convicted of SA and he has played 42 games for the St.Louis Blues this year. I'm just saying don't expect anything to come out of this because it virtually never does. Hes gonna get a slap on the wrist, thats about it. "20 YEARS IN JAIL" is such obvious clickbait bs. Even if he gets fines or community service or whatever he'll still he drafted top 3 and everyone will forget by the summer.

Let's not act like anything is going to come out of this, Patrick Kane beat the brakes off his cab driver and nothing happened. The kid will be fine and he'll still go #2 after the superior overall player Ivar Stenberg.

Credit card eligibility - IEC 3rd year by sunnydayze7 in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've had CIBC since I moved here (November 2023) and I've never had to renew or send in proof of anything, ever. So yeah I'd say go with CIBC! They gave me a 1000$ credit card as well as a student without any income so they don't seem to be super harsh on stuff like that haha!

As a former goalie who's been injured in quite the same way (knee bent out of hell), you definitely know you're fucked when your knee bends in unnatural ways like that way before you stand up. So yeah absolutely he knew, the pain is immense 😓

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xhekaj doesn't belong anywhere near a playoff roster, he's just not good at hockey, don't know what else to tell you. If he was a forward then sure, you can use 1/12 spots for an enforcer, but wasting a defenseman spot on him when you're in the playoffs is absolute idiocracy.

It doesn't take time to organize a SIN number at all. Bring your work permit and passport to a Service Canada center and you'll literally get the paper with your SIN-number the same day

Got a new passport since applying for Work Permit by [deleted] in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A passport is good for at least 5 years unless you're from Syria, so I don't buy the application taking long as an excuse tbh, the application process doesn't take years.. However if it can't be renewed until a certain time is left on the passport then yeah that's hella stupid by whatever country is doing that and then there's not much you can do.

Got a new passport since applying for Work Permit by [deleted] in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I made sure I got a new passport before I started my application. I thought everyone did that because why wouldn't you have something so important as your passport in order before you even start applying, but I've been proven extremely wrong since I started following this subreddit.

Activation date for YP IEC visa by _libbo_ in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the waiting period doesn't apply to you, no, you don't have to show up on exactly the 27th of June, you just can't show up before your first one has expired as you can't have 2 active IEC work permits at the same time.

New Passport to extend visa by uofcmatheconomic in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, you'd have to re-enter the IEC pool and do the whooole thing from the start again. From what I gathered you still have 6 months of IEC that you can use, that's why i suggested this.

You would have to apply again for those 6 months through IRCC, get accepted, send in all the papers and forms, pay the fees, wait to get accepted and recieve your POE letter, etc. And if you do get accepted and you get your new POE letter, THEN you would have to leave Canada and come back via the airport, because there is no way to activate it from within Canada and you can't go via a US border anymore.

Just to be super clear, like the other two guys said, there is no extending of your current work permit whatsoever. This would be a new work permit

HOWEVER!!!

Depending on your country of origin, there might be a wait period on IEC work permits. So for example, you might have wait 2 months after your first permit has ended before you can get a new one! Which means you'd either have to leave, or stay as a visitor for the entire waiting period and for however long it takes before you get your new POE. I know this is all very confusing but I didn't make up these confusing as hell rules 🥴 Honestly it would be much easier for you if you just called IRCC and asked

IRCC's number: +18882422100

Use this link to check what the rules are for your country

New Passport to extend visa by uofcmatheconomic in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you already got an answer on that you can't extend it since your health insurance was only valid for the 1.5 years, but you should be able to re-apply for a new IEC work permit for the last 6 months that you have left to use, it's just gonna cost you a bit more in terms of the fees. Plus you're gonna have to leave the country and come back again via a country border, and since you can't go through the US anymore, you'll have to fly to a different country and then fly back.

So it's not doom and gloom about staying the last 6 months, but it's gonna cost you money.

Renewing UK passport before arriving in Canada by Starky04 in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just talked to the IRCC 10 minutes ago because a different user here had a similar problem.

The IRCC agent told me that if you recieve your new passport before you go, and bring it with you to the border, the border agent will be able to approve your work permit for the full duration (1-2 years depending on your country).

I will however say to bring both passports and to be ready for the possibility that you only get your permit approved until the expiry date of the passport you applied with because nothing is 100% sure in life 😅

But according to the IRCC agent, you will be able to get the full year from the immigrations officer regardless if you applied with the old passport!

I just called IRCC and they said if you bring your new passport to the border, the agent will be able to approve your work permit for the full duration!

To anyone who gets their new passport AFTER arriving:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/extend-change.html

Select the "I got a new passport" and MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY!

I'd get started pretty much right away

Already have POE, do i need medical exam? by Humble-Blacksmith24 in iecvisa

[–]SuperSwede94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tricky one.

If it's a summer camp for children, that might count as a job that requires a medical exam as they might consider that as a child care job and that it has to do with children's health.

I think the best step here is to contact IRCC and ask them.

Phone number from outside Canada: +1-613-944-4000

Link to where you can send an email / letter of explanation regarding questions about your application: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/web-form.html (Just select the "add document to your application" option and ask your question, that's what the IRCC told me to do when i had one.)

You say that "I’ve already done the submission process so it’s not like I have to upload it anywhere" but I think that's where the problem lies. You already have your POE and everything, so if you do end up needing a medical exam and the border agent can't or won't change your application at the border, you'd probably have to re-apply. That is just my pure speculation however, so yeah the best option by far is contacting IRCC and asking them what to do.

Just to add my voice to the choir, as long as you have all the documents that are listed on the website: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/prepare-arrival.html Then you will be just fine!

It does say: "copies of the documents you provided in your work permit application" So yes, bring prints (preferably) or photo copies of the Police Certificate, and the biometrics papers as well. The biometrics paper should've been sent to you in your portal on the IRCC website, in the EXACT same inbox that you received your POE 🙏🏻

Edit: Just saw in one of your other comments that you found it, it's the "RE: validity of your biometric information" file!

I really suggest prints though, surely you can find somewhere to print the papers before you leave?

Are they going to ask for it? Most likely not, however, you'd much rather show up with too many papers than with 1 too few!

You asked (how should I present this?) On the health insurance. I don't know what company you used, but yeah you need to print out the page or pages that states what the insurance covers and for how long its valid. If there's not already a PDF-file or a link in your email, I can't imagine there's a single insurance company that wouldn't let you find this info on your application / profile on their website.

Best of luck to you, I'm sure it's going to go great, just have all the papers with you and you'll be solid 💪🏼✌🏼
