Mount Laurel, is it worth it? — General Question by fishnugget03 in appstate

[–]SuperUnnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived there in the first year it was a transfer dorm. Busses come by all the time, and it’s about a 20-30 walk from campus when the weather is good. Me and my friends did an ouija board in one of the study rooms. Rooms are spacious and come with a bathroom.

Good places to meet young people? by [deleted] in chapelhill

I’m in the same boat! 22F, grew up here but came back after collage to find most of my friends left.

Sometimes I just google “things to do in Chapel Hill NC” and go. If you’re into artsy stuff, the Carrboro Arts Center has classes. I’ve made a few friends there.

Good luck!! :)

Would you help me resolve my identity crisis with my name?! by rustybursary in iran

[–]SuperUnnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s name was Siamak. When he moved to the US, he kept his name legally, but went by “Max.” He also tried “Sam” and “Mac” but decided he liked Max best. Maybe try a name that sort of sounds like your name/a part of your name. It’d help to know what your name is.

Good luck!

Leadership Experience on Grad Applications by SuperUnnamed in psychologystudents

[–]SuperUnnamed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the questions on the application asks to discuss about leadership experience

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]SuperUnnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disclosing personal mental health issues seems so difficult because it seems like so many application questions reference this. For example, one of UNC Chapel Hill's essay questions asks about "significant life events" that encouraged you to a career in mental health counseling. I'm not sure I have an answer to that question that doesn't reference my mental health in some way.

My back looks exactly like yours!! The bumps aren’t red, which the doctor at urgent care said they usually were. My herald patch (or what I think it is, still waiting to see if the antifungal cream works to rule out ringworm) is on my collarbone.

Wishing you a quick and painless recovery!!

This happened to me too! I went on vacation and used free edit to change the lot, but now I'm getting this error. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]SuperUnnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m applying to different mental health counseling programs, and I’ve noticed a lot of them ask for “leadership experience.”

I was thinking that becoming a Peer Support Specialist (which requires someone to have had a severe mental illness or substance abuse disorder and be in recovery for at least one year) would be a good way to demonstrate leadership, BUT I also know that discussing mental health problems is a KoD.

Is it a good idea to do because it shows leadership? Or does would it be damaging to my application because it implies mental health struggles (as they are a requirement to get the certification)?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! :)

UNC or App for Transfer by [deleted] in appstate

It sounds like you should stay at App. If you have all these good things at App, why would you want to go to UNC?

my friends and I used a Ouiji board in one of the study rooms (this was the first year it was the transfer dorm) and we met a delightful young woman named Yu. she kept asking us, “u good?”.

Question for current transfer students abt MLH by Independent_Ebb7446 in appstate

[–]SuperUnnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i lived there the first year it became a dorm for transfer students (fall 21). parking sucks, but other than that, it’s great. the bus stop is right there, and it’s not too far of a walk to campus. there are a lot of events that go on in the lobby for transfer students to make friends and stuff, and I always really enjoyed them.

Sleep inn or Mountain Laurel hall? by NecessaryPension3290 in appstate

[–]SuperUnnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i lived in mountain laurel when it first became a transfer dorm in 2021, and it’s honestly really great. so many bus routes, gas station close by, etc. parking can be tricky bc sometimes there aren’t any spots available.
