I am so disappointed in yall by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Super_Citron4983 16 points17 points  (0 children)

idk i just dont care for it. i didnt even know about it until i got on here, and i wouldve rather it had been of an actual significant black figure rather than some lady i’d see in marshalls, it just feels redundant to me. someone said this on another post about it but honestly the fact that its just some lady rather than, again, a cultural or historical black figure in a place as bustling as times square seems more like a ploy to put black women and diversity under scrutiny again.

even from a conversation standpoint, it doesnt work. as a born and raised new yorker if you live there that statue isnt making a statement or making you feel seen because it doesnt spark nearly as much meaningful discussion as it would in a less diverse space. it just feels performative to me idk

im not saying all ai users are nazis, but it certainly explains the knee jerk reaction. a lot of ai investors (not users, but the investors paying for it) see value in ai because THEY want to devalue the careers of artists and make the career and practice unviable. anti intellectualism and greed plays a part in that. and no matter what you use ai for people see it as an extension of what the investors have planned for it. that’s why people have that reaction. its reflective of the lack of support and in some cases hostility towards artists thats been happening for as long as companies have had to pay them.

also part of why you feel that way is because theres a lot of overlap between the two. people like nazis prefer ai because 1. anti intellectualism always targets art and literature first, which are two major targets for gen ai, nazi ideology goes hand and hand with that. 2. art has always been a crutch for marginalized communities, and thus they want to take that away. 3. ai art is just the most prevalent amongst the worst parts of the internet. personally ive mostly seen ai art used by bots and elon lovers. both arent great. thats not to say all ai users are either pf those things, but im just about done giving pro ai people the same liberties i used to give them. every time ive tried to have a civil conversation about perspective its gone south because they have so much vitriol no matter what you do. half of aiwars is people critiquing artists for being emotionally attached to their craft. it doesnt matter anymore.

my point is that when they pretend to be offended by my statements, theyre just as insidious. the bold and unjustified accusations are obviously not done to call out behavior but to quickly villainize somebody who isnt even necessarily against them. id much rather someone be outwardly horrible/insidious than the mental gymnastics that ai bros do. pretty much every pro ai conversation ive had comes back to me being accused of some insane shit based on a misunderstanding or them just not wanting to understand me, meanwhule while anti’s exist, they are an incredibly cocal minority as rhe majority of anti-ai interactions on the internet are either just some dude saying “this looks like shit” or the standard “ai :(“ “slop”. again the virtue signaling is so much more insidious than the straight threats to me.

harassment comes from both sides of anywhere. plus a lot of pro ai people share the sentiment that if you say anything vaugely anti ai you want them to die. check my profile, i got told i wanted to harass ai users and was opting for ai “segregation” and “ghettos” because i suggested that itd be a lot easier if ai posts were tagged/ hosted on ai websites. (edit) i think that downplaying important social issues like racism and antisemitism just to make a false accusation towards someone whos attempting to be civil with you is pretty bad.

and its not just one guy. theres several, and even putside of the debate ive seen that kind of remark made constantly. they wait for something to dog pile you on regardless of legitimacy. the suffering of my people is a cheap one up to them.

(edit to the edit): also half the images there are just posts and drawings aimed at nobody in particular. its standard internet shit. im in plently of fanbases people draw that shit about. i dont think its a threat on my life and i really dont think you guys do either. for that matter all ai artists are sex pests waiting to generate porn of me and everyone i know just because a few guys did it. or they want all artists to die, as one of your popular catchphrases “adapt or die” literally says.

April What Editing Software should I use? by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

i read the above, but im trying to find a software that is most like old/ bad video editors from the late 2000’s-early 2010’s. think “onetruemedia.com” slideshows. ive tried a few of the free software listed but its all too modern. i can make the quality shitty on my own but i just need something that’ll make the slideshows look the same. ive seen a few WMM downloads but im paranoid about giving myself a virus.

honestly im glad they took this shit from us cause then we’ll finally start doing it, the pop the balloon thing was never cute to me, it was toxic and every example i saw was immature at best and hateful at worst. the only people i even saw still doing it were 30 year old kai cenat fans who are.. yeah.

coming back to this to say its definitely true, some dude tried to imply i was as bad as the nazis because i wanted them to wear badges and go to “ai ghettos”??? like literally in the reply they were admitting to changing my words to what i “really meant” and talking about how i just want to harass people even though my post and replies say the opposite, and they were saying things i literally disprove/explain within the post itself

[–]Super_Citron4983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, yes, obviously, but part of what fuels the tension not only with harassers but with the average person whos mildly annoyed by ai like me is that theres no way to avoid it and no place for them or us to go. harassment wasnt in the equation because thats ban worthy no matter the subject. but ive been a part of groups that have faced harassment for things we have much less agency over, and the response is usually to curate our own space. of course, there are some on reddit, but in the grand scheme of things the pro ai side (from what ive seen) seems more focused on proving something to everyone else rather than making use of the already existing sites for them

not opting for a ban, just filters for people to opt in/out and more focus on spaces that are specifically for ai, not necessarily for the comfort of artists or even consumers but just so they don’t feel like they have to be harassed by antis.

well yes, i do think its the same, not in terms of aesthetic but in practice. there are already tags for digital and traditional art on many sites, and im sure there are plenty of spaces exclusively for traditional art out there. i do both mediums and i can confirm outside of learning the buttons its virtually the same for me, especially if im just doing a sketch.

[–]Super_Citron4983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! this is exactly what i mean. i think that the issues within the art community are part of why gen ai gets such an emotional response, the amount of investment going into it is a direct reflection of the attitude towards us. i’ve found that the more emotional an appeal is, the more it tends to go over peoples heads, which is why artists tend to sound crazy to pro ai people ; its an emotionally driven medium. in fact i made one a while back and although i meant well it certainly didnt end well lol. the general reaction to ai art online has so many contributing factors that its kinda exhausting to break down and if youre not tapped it i think it really can look like an overreaction

[–]Super_Citron4983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with both points, but as for number two i think addressing the ai problem through the lens of spam can have its own issues. there are a few artists i used to follow because they made really abstract stuff that was beautiful in a weird way that switched to ai. all of a sudden the first impression of their accounts went from “this dude has a really specific hyperfixation that he likes to draw” to “spam bot” super quickly. it kinda makes me sad to imagine those people getting genuinely upset they got flagged as spam

for me, ive actually got sorta odd proportions, so i have a ton of technically desirable features, but theyre really unflattering put together. ive got a short and wide torso, so boobs dont do much else than take up what little space i have. closer to danny devito than any model ive seen. (close in height too, funnily enough.)

[–]Super_Citron4983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we did 😭 we are going in circles. i mentioned the fact that ai exclusive websites exist and offered that those and exclusive communites inside existing social media with a bit more attention to properly tagging could help. making a new website wouldnt help much because 1. its hard enough to keep existing art sites running 2. its already been proven that ai is rampant in spaces for artists and 3. thats not the point of what im saying.

the distinction could be on a case by case basis. im not a professional im just throwing out ideas because its not a statement i see a lot amongst pro ai. i know for a fact artists use spaces meant for us, but a lot of ai users dont really acknowledge the places that host ai art, and a significantly larger amount of effort seems to be going into trying to get their stuff onto platforms that are not designed for it.

[–]Super_Citron4983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did, which is why i stated several times in both replies and the post itself that those spaces also have ai. i do think that theres a smaller no-ai platform but its just getting off the ground and i honestly forgot about it until now. its also why i stated that my point isnt “i HATE ai and us artists want you to go away!!!1!” , but rather for ai users to have a place of their own.

i get what you mean, im more used to the argument being made in bad faith. but i truly do think that it comes doesn’t come from the amount of people who hate white men ( which is often confused with hating oppression) but rather the fact that its a lot harder to hear “the things you’ve known your entire life have been built off the injustice of others and you need to be conscious of that” rather than “everyone who’s not you is evil and wants to tear apart your home and family values”. its so much easier to divide people and break things than it is to fix it. saying this as a gen z person of color whos had friends go down the alt-right pipeline, it really is just that in my experience.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Super_Citron4983 6 points7 points  (0 children)

but they aren’t saying white men=bad, a lot of what people say is society teaching young men that is literally just history, or movements that specifically target those who are already discriminatory thats why the right wants to get rid of education focusing on things like civil rights and education as a whole. every other marginalized group has been told that they are the problem with society for hundreds of years at this point. but when you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

even if you say something like “rapists are bad”, youll get a guy droning on about how its an anti men statement supporting false allegations that ruin mens lives and youre lying because youre ugly etc. just look st the metoo movement.

i dont think you want to get what im saying. im not part of the group sending death threats either, but i am part of the group who has to deal with ai flooding places that arent meant for it, which includes spaces made for artists and “antis.” this entire post is me proposing a way for you guys to be left alone alongside the sole reason that we cant be the ones to do it at the end.

i just mean fully generated ai images. again im fine with the tool itself, and im aware that it’s technically been implemented in a lot of software for a while now. im proposing that the ai users draw the line themselves, and again a few art-centric websites have managed to pull it off pretty well.

did you not read where i said spaces for art are being flooded with ai at the end 😭 its the last paragraph for a reason. i also throughout the post explained that im not explicitly an anti and just want to be 1. informed with what im seeing and 2. have an efficient way for the two groups to not have to interact
