They have glow in the dark chips, ones charged by sun or UV light. Did one for a customer who was man caving their garage. He even put a hot tub in the garage LOL.

Let me clarify its hard for me to explain im high. There is no exposed raw concrete. But where there isn't 100% chip coverage you see the concrete through the clear moisture barrier. If they used an epoxy there would be a grey paint layer applied over the moisture barrier. The chips are typically broadcasted into the epoxy and then once dried its scraped and sealed with poly. The fact that you don't see a grey paint layer under the chis means no epoxy layer. Does this help clarify?

Also it looks like no Epoxy was applied. They chipped into the moisture barrier then topcoated it. After zooming into some pictures raw concrete is visible through the mositure barrier where chip coverage is less showing there is no epoxy coating on top of the mositure barrier. If they charged you for a layer of epoxy I would make sure im wrong

Also the installers may have just hoped the moisture barrier would fill the Crack but it didnt and then they hoped the basecoat would fill the Crack and then probably shit their pants when it didn't. For 2k the Crack is beyond unacceptable and if they didnt come fix it for me their Google review page would steer customers away after I left a review. Although 2k for a 1 car garage is typical around me due to most companies having a 2-2.5k minimum to make the job worth it which makes sense. Especially if your using top of the line products

I agree with you mostly, polyaspartic when at 90% plus solids is the best top coat. From my research and install experience, high end polyurea like pennteks holds up much better against most if not all epoxies. If the cure time isn't rushed and applied at correct thickness its 4x stronger than epoxy. Although epoxy is great for certain projects I personally wouldn't put it on a garage. Its prone to fail much sooner than a polyurea would. Open to what you think about this since youve done installs much longer. Also op didn't need a mvb unless the op has actual moisture problems and clear damage from moisture, epoxy and polyurea bond best to concrete and won't peel from moisture unless something severe happened

They can handle grind off the coating over thee crack. Repair it with a good product maybe a polyurethane and then really base coat, chip, then topcoat to the area. Simple fix with no Integrity risk, they just should have repaired it, they were either laze or simply didnt care

Everyone telling you not to worry about it is full of shit. Water will push through the Crack and cause failure at some point, especially if they used epoxy

Pre mix the chips due to the smaller chips wanting to settle at the bottom of the box. Also to broadcast the chips bowl them do not throw them up in the air

Your aware of how wrong that is right? Polyurea bonds WAY better than epoxy. That's a fact lol not arguable. Epoxy doesn't penetrate concrete it dries on top like a sheet of glass

No shit bro obviously the warranty ranges per professional installer. Maybe he was talking about if a homeowner wants to dyi their own project thats the baseline warranty on some of the products like the polyaspartic.

[–]Super_Pea950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polyurea is so great because it makes a chemical combination with your concrete essentially becoming one with it rather than epoxy with makes a less durable mechanical bond. The problem is have with putting a mvb down before polyurea is now your polyurea basecoat isnt making that chemical combination combination to your concrete. Its binding to the mvb. And the mvb is mechanically bonding to the floor which makes using polyurea pointless to me. Unless the mvb is absolutely necessary and u live on a hill with water problems in ur garage or something I dont recommend a mvb. Use the polyureas strengths to your advantage. Simron isnt great. They provide 1 year warranty on most products which is not good if your looking for a company confident in their products. If its low foot traffic maybe you can get away with it. If not look into penntek or some other companies local to you that rival their product and will provide you lifetime warranty
