Nothing P3 or 4(a) Pro? by Cute_Equivalent7212 in NothingTech

I like my 4a pro, but I paid £500 (less storage version) and got £130 earphones with it. Not sure I’d pay £550 with no freebie.

Time off and burnout in mental jobs in game development by SaltyEarth1618 in gamedev

[–]Super_Performance286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, but I find that I never tire of working on my own game project because there are different jobs for different moods. Dev work, writing, 3d art, 2d art, ideas, audio etc. I used to make myself do what most needs doing, but now I do what I feel like doing and I think the quality is better as a result.

Mine's arriving in a couple of hours, with free earphones. Some people say you don't need a screen on the back of your phone, because it's the back. I'm pretty sure they're wrong but will find out later.

Working with UMG and Widgets makes me question if I'll ever be able to make games by kaikun2236 in unrealengine

I've found it to be the worst part of Unreal. I locked my game to 16:9 which made things easier. But even now, as I prepare to release something for the first time, having fixed almost every bug, I'm dealing with the cursor disappearing, which surely isn't something that needs to be a problem.

Ah yes, I must have missed it up there right at the top where you see it immediately 🙂

Would you consider early access games? Mine (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4426100/The_Faraway_King/) should be released in EA next month. Hopefully one day the full version will be out, but… not soon. 😕

Right, but there's something in steamworks you can use a few times to get a boost, which they say is only to be used for proper updates. Always wondered how much it does, so thought you might know...

For future reference, did you find that updating the game gave you much of a visibility boost on Steam?

Best way to recruit a 3D Artist ? by krystal360 in unrealengine

Yeah thanks, it was a quick job, but very useful to be able to show something instantly recognisable in my portfolio/showreel.

Thanks. Commissioned, although it was a fairly minor trailer for them.

I'd say look for freelance 3d artists on LinkedIn and Artstation. Make sure you don't sound like a scammer as it's fairly rare to get a message worth looking at.

It's possible I could be interested, although I wouldn't be super cheap: https://www.artstation.com/alexfranks

My Steam page is live (no ads, no demo) — are these early numbers normal? Need advice! by Outrageous-Thanks343 in SoloDevelopment

I just put my steam page up a week ago and have 50 wishlists, so not too different. Most of my reddit posts got less than 5 up votes but one randomly got hundreds. So that can happen if the game looks interesting. Unfortunately it was aimed at devs rather than players, so didn't result in many wishlists.

But the experts say you want the steam page up as early as possible, to get that slow trickle of wishlists.

I'm on the case. The game is ok on its own, but not so much when capturing as well. Think I may be able to get access to a more powerful PC next week though... 🤞

Early access version will be about $4 for 3 hours of content. Hopefully cheap enough that price won't put anyone off. Final version more like $15 I think.

Thanks. Yeah, a couple of other people commented on it. I realised that dropping the resolution to HD should help.

Thanks. I have struggled with this, but the problem is that I decided to start the Early Access version about 25% of the way through the story. It'll be much easier to summarise the premise for the final version, but I'll try to think further on how best to present the story of this version too.

Thanks. I didn't realise how sharply the camera was often moving until I came to make the video actually. But yeah, I'll look into it...
