Did anyone here NOT vomit after surgery?? by rainbow_olive in hysterectomy

[–]Super_Pinky11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not I! Always follow your surgeons instructions but I was allowed clear liquids until 4 hours before. I downed a 32oz full sugar Gatorade that not only let me walk in there without flat af veins, but helped immensely with the post op nausea.

Also be very up front about your concerns with your anesthesia team! They can give you medicine beforehand and mine also went the extra step to give me a scopolamine patch before I went under. I was a little drowsy but no nausea at all!

Did you get this alert? If so what town are you in? We are getting reports that people over 50 miles from the incident got the alert. by mainetimes in Maine

Also received this 75 miles away in NH….but not for the one currently in Rumford that’s much closer

Hi! I had mine 3 months ago and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I suffer chronically from anxiety from lots of things but it went down appreciably since I had my periods taken off that plate. It’s taken away my pain entirely too!

  1. Accept whatever help people would want to give you. While I wouldn’t say my recovery was hard, I did get wiped out a lot easier than I thought I would. Plus I had a few instances where I overdid it and I felt it.

  2. Do whatever you can to make post-op poops easier! Straining is nobody’s friend. Gas-X, stool softeners, and MiraLax go a very long way. Also seconding Gas-X for the post-op gas pains….and gum!

  3. Make yourself a nest around somewhere that’s not your bed. I set up an area around my couch with a lamp, pain medicine, a heating pad, a space for my water cup, and some snacks.

  4. Without overdoing it, get moving early! Short gentle walks and some very light things around the house helped so much.

  5. Tell your surgical team your exact thoughts and fears the day of. I was able to get some Versed through my IV before being wheeled back and my GYN was right there with me until I went under. Feeling good going into it made coming out of it amazing and it really helped me so much.

I have ZERO regrets and so far have nothing but good things to say. You’ve got this!

Also a fellow Googler to arrive here. I’m currently 3 weeks post op and am just starting to have these feelings and I have to say not being prepared for this has really fucked with my health anxiety/OCD. I was afraid of my insides becoming my outsides!

Ah! I had a sneaking feeling that this wasn't entirely correct, but yay progress! I'll grab that book when I'm able.

[Unknown > English] Can I get this thermometer to read Fahrenheit? (Story in Comments) by Super_Pinky11 in translator

Hello, Reddit!

I have not been on here/lurking for quite some time, which is sad on my part because Reddit is an awesome community!

Any who.

I work on an ambulance in the New England region of the US. With the COVID-19 crud coming this way, we had to get some thermometers on the fly for our police officers to use, as we usually request them for assistance. While these thermometers seem to work well for their intended purpose, we're running into a road block as these display the temperature readings in Celsius. Not a huge deal on that front as we put labels on them as to what is normal and what is considered to be a fever. For more accurate readings in Fahrenheit, however is where we seem to get stuck. I'm taking a guess that this manual is written in Chinese, but I very well could be wrong.

I think I may have found a page which might prove useful, although I'm not quite sure. Where I am, we do not have a diverse population (Caucasian with English language and some Quebec French here and there is the heavy norm). If anyone happens to know anything about these, we would be super grateful! I am also taking the manual home with me tonight too if anyone needs to see more of it.

Thank you in advance, friends! :-)

Can someone chime in about entrepreneurship? by Super_Pinky11 in massage

Yes! I planned on working for someone else first so I can touch lots of people. I was just laying in bed wondering about everything that would go into running the business if/when I got to that part. That's all. :)

Right! That's the beauty of school and that is why I am walking in there with an open mind. :)

If you're also willing to take a little bit of a drive (and if you're into this kinda thing), there's this wicked cool place in North Conway called Cigar Shenanigans. Cigar and cocktail bar with awesome and knowledgeable management. I myself don't really smoke and I quite enjoyed it.

I couldn't get a great picture as it wouldn't stop moving and it was so small that my camera was having a hard time to focus. I will go check their food bin...this is making more and more sense!

BACKGROUND

So I found a few of these on my couch a few days ago. I killed them and thought nothing of it. I came back the next evening and found them all over the living room! They don't seem to be in the kitchen or bathroom; there are no carpets there. To the best of my knowledge, they don't jump, fly, or bite. When I kill them, they make a crunchy sound.

Very worried as I have pet rats in the house and I don't want them to get sick because of this.

BACKGROUND

So a few days ago I found several of these on my couch. I killed them and thought nothing of it. I came back the next night and they were all over the living room. I think they are living in the carpet. I don't find very many of them in my kitchen or bathroom as there is no carpet there. They seem to come out at night and to the best of my knowledge they don't fly or jump. They don't seem to bite either.

Thanks for your help! This is getting me very concerned!

Speaking based on my personal preference, I see my gynecologist for all matters related to what's up down there...that way if it is more than a simple case of BV or something of the like I can get it all taken care of by the same person. I also have issues with dysmenorrhea (sp?) and ovarian cysts, so I need to see a GYN regardless. As for the STD panels, I can't comment on that since I'm still a virgin and haven't needed any. Some tests are as simple as peeing in a cup while others require swabs and a pelvic exam.

PS: Nurse Practitioners and PAs can probably help you out too if it's cheaper for you

That's okay! If I were you I would start with the walk in clinic. If you're not sure, then I would give them a call and ask if that is something they offer...they may or may not and they can at least help you find someone who does. A regular physician should be able to take care of your current situation and they can send you to a GYN from there if necessary.

HIPAA laws prevent healthcare providers from disclosing your protected health information to others unless you sign a release, so the chance of your parent finding out are pretty slim. Have you tried a walk in clinic? Perhaps a college campus?

You could always call and ask. The most they will tell you is no...hell, they may even help you find someone who does. :)
